And what type? Just curious how many smarties are here, I'm not an engineer and could never be one. Im terrible at finding solutions to problems.

Was a mechanical engineer for ~10 years then switched to library and information science.

I started with engineering physics but it was too abstract in concepts. Couldn't fix it with a hammer!

Electronics and telecommunications engineering-technician here. Never got my Engineering degree.

After graduating with honors, the plan was to start working, getting some experience, making some money, and eventually go back to college to get my engineeering degree.

Little did I know the labor market would teach me that taking my father's advice of pursuing a technology related degree instead of an arts degree was a terrible choice as I was considered by many employers a mediocre technician (at best).

I'd eventually try to pursue an arts related carreer, but at my age, it was too little too late.

Let's hope CTB is the only thing in this life I won't fail at.

I first studied computer systems engineering at the request of my family since most of them are engineers and it is the career with the most demanding work, but due to problems I dropped out and you could say that I know a little about that. Now I am studying a degree in web design and digital art :P

Currently studying for a degree in applied math and hoping that it can lead to a career in financial engineering. I have various solid backup plans in case that doesn't work out. Not really the same as a normal engineer though.

I always thought being a historical engineer like Winston in 1984 would be a fun and rewarding career until I realized rats were part of the benefits plan.

Financial engineer sounds slick, and probably how places like Zimbabwe and Venezuela keep running. Very cool!

Like some others here, I'm studying mechanical engineering. Though, my freshman year + fall semester of sophomore year was spent in electrical & computer engineering. I learned that wasn't what I wanted to do, and so I make a calculated risk. Is it paying off so far? Don't know, and every day I start to wonder if I'm as smart as my family and friends made me out to be back in highschool and early college.

Currently in my 4th year, though I won't be done till my 5th or even 6th year. Slowly running out of stamina, unsure of how much longer I can keep going.

Software engineer, working for a top tech company. I was depressed long before I graduated college.

You know it's bad when you can a job offer with multiple 6 figures out of college and you barely even feel anything

I have a few friends who are engineers. One of them is one of the smartest people I know, she's just brilliant. Definitely nowhere near that level, but I can tell you all about yugioh so I got that going for me

doing a masters in biomedical engineering atm but strongly regret it, not a good idea to pursue higher education while mentally ill and suicidal
