Depends what the situation is, but I think DBT would say that you need a pause (go for a walk or something), and writing things down helps.

Pauses or breaks help a little, you need to be able to step back for some time.

I dissociate - I had severe social anxiety in school so it's been my go to ever since.

If possible, I remove myself from the situation and I allow my mind to go blank. I have a dissociative disorder, so this part is no problem.

If resting is not an option, I try to slow down as much as I can. Music, going for walks, writing are all things that usually help.

My methods for coping are generally unhealthy and lead me to problems with others, but I do have some that aren't as disastrous. I usually draw anything that's been on my mind for a while or write about how I'm feeling or a topic I'm passionate about. Watching gameplay videos helps me forget about my problems for a while, music helps get some of that energy out, cooking something simple or going out and buy something tasty, learning about a new subject, petting one of my pets, sleeping or simply going for a small walk. Talking about it with someone you trust can also help, but simply talking about anything else that distracts you is useful as well.
