It's getting worse the older I get. Loneliness and desperation for connection are becoming my number one problems.

My abandonment issues are mixed in.

You might want to cultivate multi-level relationships. Some simple acquaintanceships, others varying degrees of friendships.

If you are just starting out to build relationships, you may want to try to resist all the "eggs in one basket" tendency.

Intimacy may grow out of a friendship, but like a plant it can't be tugged at to grow faster.

Yeah I'm at level 1. I don't really have opportunities except for cashiers, which has been successful sometimes, but they tend to fizzle out. Bars are my last option.

This is my main problem as well.

I think that only when we learn to be well with ourselves will we stop feeling this way. Sounds cliché, I know. But if we really think about it, it makes perfect sense.

I think I'm experiencing that for the first time. I'm still a long way from where I want to be but for the first time in my life I'm not looking for anything to fill my hole.

You may want to visit your local library to see what groups meet there (frequently book clubs). This might open the door so other opportunities where romatic intmacy may not be immediately expected could be explored.
