I've been having delusions since 5pm, and it is now 9:30pm. I know this sounds completely irrational, but I have a strong feeling that I am on a watch list, and the police will arrest me. I keep hearing sirens, helicopters, police radios, you name it. I'm trying to sleep but every couple of minutes I hear a car door slam or a car drive past and I get up to look out the window in case there is a police car. Ughh I can't take this. I need to relax....somehow
Please don't give me shit for how stupid this sounds, I just want help

Did you take any recreational drugs? It's always comforting to remember this and say to yourself this feeling will pass.

I always take morbid comfort in the idea that I'm a nobody and no one would EVER bother looking for me lol.

So yeah, just chill out. Everything will be fine. Try listening to some soothing music.

Wow, cool. Good to hear! I read a lot of the comments saying how it helped them so glad it helped you!

And oh, sorry to hear you have to go through that. I tried using cannabis as an alternative medicine, but I think it just mangles my already fractured mind. I feel crazy on it and can't imagine what my mind would be like years from now (luckily Ill be dead by then). So I can sort of kind of little bit relate to having crazy thoughts.

Yeah. I got on the alcohol earlier and I felt slightly calmer too, but I'm sure it is not a bright coping mechanism. And same, I'll be dead by then but for the mean time it just sucks.

For me , it's not having power over stuff.

Got into a crazy feud ( a lot of it my fault and bad judgement calls ... ) with a nearby neighbor ...
and it just haunts me .
Just going out the front door ! Ugh .

I trace it back to fear filled childhood where there was NO control at all .

What I am saying is ; the present is over layed with the past a lot .
Obvious I guess .

They are a kind of survival mechanism too ...
Better to freak out and run from that 'imaginary rustle in the bushes ...

I'm not saying anything new , but I hope you can put those delusions in perspective .

( FYI ... I had a cult upbringing and the 'hauntings' of fear run deep ...
I don't know whether you had anything similar , but just being in the world at the moment is terrifying imo . )

I think one of my big challenges is managing my responses.
Noticing them .

Seeing the way that I get amped up over stuff because of the ghosts from the past .

It's a mission .

It's almost like an addiction .
The thought / emotion patterns that kick in .

Even though they are unpleasant , they are familiar .
Like the 'devil you know'.

That's what makes them so hard to get rid of or address for me .

They are kind of 'secure' bad vibes and reactions .

I've dabbled a bit with meditation , and it helped a bit.
I hold it in high regard .

Quick fixes are movies and ( when I'm trying to sleep ) audio books I've listened to some favourites dozens of times ... they are like 'replacement good voices' )

I don't have any answers , but lots of people on this site are tormented by our minds to lesser or
greater degree . I find that a little comforting ... however bad that may be .
For so long I was the 'only one ' that was 'weird' .

I think a lot of this stuff is more'normal' than we think ... it's just not talked about .

What's your mental health diagnosis? I usually take some antipsychotic and it helps.
