Venting hot take about covid, ctb, masking, and pro-life

i am severely chronically ill and bedbound. i am this way because of a (likely) COVID infection+my stupidity+no education from public health. the severity of the torture of my illness, and the fact that society and public health don't give a shit about how disabling COVID is, makes me want to ctb

my friends and family obviously don't want me to ctb. but here I am crashing out all over my socmed, linking all the research. Long COVID is now the most prevalent chronic illness in kids in the US, over asthma. COVID is literally not "just a cold" it's permanently damaging our immune systems, has a different immune response signature, there's probably so much more research…

so i'm begging my friends to mask. and i doubt they are. even the friend i call nearly every day to stay sane to survive said that they don't mask. and yet they still want me to live??? and not kms?? while they actively participate in the purposefully ignorant society that damaged me? (they literally also have extremely minor long covid from an infection from 2022..the irony the absurdity of it all)

COVID decimated my health and life and everyone who watched it happen still refuse to mask. If they think wearing a mask is inconvenient they wouldn't last a week with the 24/7 torture of severe chronic illness. I would've glued a fucking KN95 to my face if I had been fully informed about the risks. I'm so sorry this happened to you as well.

aw man..so sorry to see you here…i'm so scared that i'll be in this torture for a long time. i legitimately no longer have the same somatic experience of the world, and I know I'll never feel like my healthy self again

I agree with you, it's unfair, it simply just is luck based on who got it and who didn't, and people don't realise this.

They don't realise that had it not been for this INCOMPETENCE, millions of people who might have enjoyed living would have gotten to do so, they died without their consent (a big part of them at least), it's because of others that you have to suffer, because of their inaction, it's stupid and unfair and they don't even get punished for it.

I've never been chronically I'll but I sure have been struck hard by covid. I was living alone in my apartment and no one is available to be with me. Infection symptoms was moderate to almost severe. Intense body pain, specially the back and chest. Wasn't able to stand. Had to crawl and drag my body from the kitchen to bedroom and back, but it's nothing to what being bedbound bc of covid is. I was only sick for a few weeks. But years? I couldn't bring my self to think of how bad it is for you guys. Along with covid is a silent pandemic of mental health which unfortunately, many of us here struggle with.

if you want them to mask when they visit you then sure. but if you want ppl to continue wearing masks everywhere in 2025 then no.
like ppl should wear a mask if they're sick or going to a specific environment like a hospital but wanting everyone to wear them everywhere is kinda absurd to me.
i wore masks very diligently during covid and i only got it after the pandemic was already over.

Did you mask? May I ask? Not trying to victim blame here. Just wondering whether your attitudes changed. Did you get the vaccines? I know people who believed the whole thing was a conspiracy and, refused to do anything. I did feel sorry for the people who worked with them.

Covid still scares me. Really, any illness does. I'm lucky to be able to work from home and, barely leave the house. I think it's changed the world so much. I'm sorry it's caused you so much suffering.

i didn't mask after "the pandemic is over", bc public health convinced me it was mild. if i had even seen advocacy on socmed pages i would have definitely masked correctly. well, now it's too late. i only have regret

i think that at least everyone should receive a proper warning. "hey you're risking your health permanently if you don't mask. and long covid isn't just 'oh no, no sense of smell.' it can be very severe."

then it's their choice to risk it all. i didn't receive any such warning.

I'd never experienced anything like that. It was like my brain was being suffocated. I think my mom had a mini stroke from her infection and then got long covid and it was downhill from there.

I now have that extreme urge all the time, thanks to the pain, the malaise. Like someone's plucked me out of my real body and forced me into a body that can never know comfort or peace or happiness.

I'm not physically ill but I can't function normally due to mental illness. My family also want me to live but I don't understand it. I feel like a burden to them and wanting me to suffer so they won't lose me seems selfish to me. They still expect that therapy or something may cure me. Maybe they will let go after some time. I don't feel like I can ctb now when my mother is invested in doing everything to help me. I'm waiting for her to let me go to feel like she's ready to handle my suicade so I won't take her sanity with me. It's exhausting I should be dead already but she won't let me go.

When I was healthier and less depressed, I tried to educate people on long covid and why it was responsible for my mom's suffering but it kind of fell on deaf ears. It made me so upset to find out what ME/CFS was and that there is no urgency to find a cure or at least a medicine that would help ease the pain. They just threw antidepressants at my mom and by the time I figured out (not doctors that should have recommended it) that low dose naltrexone was promising for people with ME/CFS, it was too late for my mom.

There's not much about long covid on the internet (at least from what I've heard) cause that's all 2020 news and there's people like my dad who think it doesn't exist and say it's some conspiracy with the vaccines. It's a shame really, if people were actually smart for once and weren't so entitled then you wouldn't be like this...

unfortunately there are also people who got long covid from the vax. i just think humanity's cooked in general.

I assume their immune systems were shit to begin with. According to my GCSE biology class, vaccines are dead versions of the virus (or like parts of it) so the memory white blood cells can have a test run at fighting it so they know what to do when the actual virus comes and can quickly dispose of it, so my guess is that something was up with their white blood cells at the time and then they got covid cause if it was the actual virus being injected then that'll be inoculation and those tend to have different procedures.

I'm not a biologist though so idk but I know more than the average person online about vaccines considering how much shit I remember seeing in 2020 about microchips and toxins and shit from people who think we breathe in carbohydrates.

I think human bodies and viruses are just too complex and it will take ages for medicine to understand the root causes of ME/CFS or post-viral fatigue. Just the immune system mounting a response to even a dead pathogen can trigger things going devastatingly wrong
