Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Is it possible to wind up with locked in syndrome from a non-fatal headshot? I'll be using a .357 Mag revolver.

I think if one uses a hollow point bullet or a an expanding hunting bullet that is better than a fmj full metal Jacket bullet

for even more certainty I might shoot myself off something high or in water, like off one of these beams

yes, it is possible. since the objective of ctb via firearm is destroying the brain stem (guns megathread, "The happy place is the Medulla Oblongata... aka the brain stem"), then paraylsis is relatively likely if you survived. the pons is located there, and functions as a bridge between your cerebrum and cerebellum, alongside other critical structures like the aforementioned medulla oblongata and the midbrain (source). this means any damage to this region can impact a variety of things, such as motor control, sensory processing, sleep, etc. not at all an attempt at fearmongering, as a well aimed shot is likely fatal, just rather disasterous if not.

Great. A shot to the head could leave you even worse. I'm more fucked than I ever thought.

anything could happen . a blood vessel in any of our brains could pop next second and leave any of us with brain damage just by sitting there doing nothing by watching a video. yeah that's low probability but could happen to anyone and has to many people of all ages of course more likely in older people.

also a car accident , lightning , a fall , something falling on head from a building , an attack etc could also leave anyone with brain damage today .

imo same thing with a gun to the head shot very low probability of not dying if you do everything right like correct aim and not flinching before shot then yes it's a very low probability of something going not the way you want to . but anything can happen but it's a low probability of remaining alive with brain damage after a gun shot if you do everything right.
