Will it be possible to build one with the help of a carpenter? How lethal is it compared to other methods? I would do it immediately, because it seems like a clean and peaceful death to me.
Looks very lethal but you will need a blade and some testing. A carpenter cant make a blade and the wood work would be expensive. Of course it would also raise suspicion.

Sure you might even be able to buy one already made. Think Renaissance fair. Old museum. Definitely build able though. If carpenter asks tellnhimnits for a play or fair no biggie.

I don't think the renaissance fair or a play uses a real, functional guillotine. I think anyone showing up to a theatre for a play or to a fair with a guillotine with a real blade in it is gonna get a lot of questions from a lot of people. And any carpenter you ask to make you a functional guillotine is going to have the same questions.
You give people way to much credit. Lol they don't care usually. I've been to fairs they're very accurate the blade itself may be fake dull or taped. So the it's just a matter of sharpening. You have to be able to play it off. Ex: buyer: hey you have a guillotine for sale. Seller: yeah what you need it for? ( doubtful they care but maybe) buyer: small community paly group is doing henry the viii. Seller:cool
You have to remember that even though people like us tend to see suicide options everywhere in everything. Most people do not. It wouldn't even occur to most people that's someone would attempt suicide by guillotine in 2024. Their just not that imaginative.
