A great classic. The only real attempt at a bland ctb is the opening scene (added to the film, compared to the play from which the screenplay is based) where a neurotic Jack Lemmon/Felix Ungar, just left by his wife, tries to throw himself out of the window of a Times Square flophouse (Flanders Hotel) but the window is so badly damaged that it doesn't open... (then there are other allusions during the film, but always reported by third parties).
