I think a lot of us probably read Catcher in the Rye in high school, and I wonder what you thought of the main character, Holden Caulfield. I remember my classmates all hated him and thought he was annoying, but I found Salinger's depiction of manic depression very relatable. It's from the 50s and I felt like it understood mental illness better than most books now. But what did you guys think?
