Does time help you heal at all or does it not help?

Yes. If you work for it.

Yeah it can, if you stay true to yourself. Listen to your own body and don't let other people decide what's "best" for you if you know deep down they're wrong.

Time does help somewhat. If you can wait to get better, with luck and no further damage/trauma, there's a chance time will help.

If you take good care of the wound, it will eventually heal over time, but despite all this, the wound may become persistent and even start to fester.
A lot of intrinsic will is needed to deal with this wound, and if you hesitate for even a moment, sepsis will develop and doom is certain.
This wound can heal and leave a scar, but you can live with it if you try to adapt to it. Chronic pain may remain, but you survive.

There are many different wounds, many heal, many scar and many can get worse.
But what I am certain is that a minimum level of care is necessary to survive them.
So to answer to your question, i don't believe that only time will help.

I have healed and forgave for my childhood sexual abuse, but sadly it left lasting effects in the way of mental illness. Time heals, at least it did for me. But we are all different, have had different experiences and are different people. Some things, people are just unable to heal and recover from.

Not for everything. I am still haunted by my childhood, even though I don't remember being sexually abused, I still have things that happened that really traumatized me. I'm also haunted daily by my highschool years, the mental illness and breakdowns and the bullying, and the social issues I had, still have certain people appear in dreams. Just had one last night, I thought about them all morning and even facebook creeped their profile. It's been 17 years but it still haunts me.
