Hi folks. Looking for some input regarding a hanging approach I'm developing in the case I decide my time needs to be over.

Equipment- I need a 1/2 inch rope, something soft to put under it like a plastic bag. A 5 pound barbell to affix to the other end of the rope

Anchor point. It seems like I can place the rope over a door and affix it with the dumbbell (others mention doorknobs). The noose will be on the other side of the door, it will need to be high so that my feet don't touch the floor. I am 5 feet 6 inches so there's not a lot of leeway

Full Hanging seems like the way to go because it seems many people have trouble carrying through with a partial hanging

I will need to study and practice knots, a slip knot will be the right choice. I need to place the knot at the back of my neck, and allow the rope to be high under my neck as it constricts. The discussion of sweet spot might me moot since the rope will automatically slide up.

I should stand on a chair and kick it away, well away so I don't try to reach it

I would like to look for an Airbnb so that my death in my own home will not be an additional component of pain for my loved ones (causing them pain is the main thing holding me back). I should ensure having several hours where people won't find me

Any feedback?

don't have any input to offer about this method but it seems like you put a lot of thought into it so far, wondering if anyone else has some good feedback for this

What does the 5 lb barbell attach to? I'm not understanding how that helps or what it even does.

It is tied to the end of the rope on the "back" of the door in lieu of affixing that rope to a doorknob. That's the idea anyway.

Just tying a barbell to the end of a rope and slinging it over a door does not keep it there when weight is applied to the "noose" side. What keeps the barbell in place on the other side of the door? For it to stay in place it would have to weigh more than the person hanging from the other side, WAY more.

The idea is to tie the rope around a dumbbell, then make it over the door, close the door, and tie a knot around your neck. The dumbbell will be pulled toward the ceiling on the other side of the door, but it will stop because the door is closed, preventing the fall and keeping the rope under tension.

So long as the door/rope holds, it holds.

Ok. That clears that up. TY for that. Still, I'm not clear on how a length of rope "thrown" over a door with a dumbbell attach could be made short enough, so by the time the dumbbell is up at the top of the door (on the opposite side of you), how the rope on your side with the slip knot, or noose, won't be exceedingly long, as not to allow your feet to touch the floor when the slip is around your neck and tightened? I mean we're only dealing with a door height here.

Where to you plan to anchor the ligature? Doorknobs are not high enough for full

You're already pulling the dumbbell up as you close the door. As you're closing the door, you're also pulling on the rope at the same time, so the dumbbell (or whatever object) will already be in its final position. When the door is closed, the rope (or strap) is wedged between the door and the doorframe, so a light dumbbell won't fall. (If it does fall, a different, lighter object can be used instead.)

I have no issue with how the rope is being held in place. I just don't think you can make the rope short enough, with a tightening slip or noose knot, that will be able to suspend a person's body fully from the "virtual" anchor point of the top of a door. It's just not enough height for full suspension the way I see it. Partial yes.

Edit...it seems like my anchor point plan is not good. I'm now trying to see if I think I can make a tree option in a small forest work. I also having a handgun option, but if I can make hanging work it's quieter with what I assume is less chance of being found
