I don't know if the topic has already been brought up, but I've seen this:

I think it's going in the right direction. Germany is very influential in the EU, would that set up a good precedent for all of Europe?

What are your thoughts on this?

I think it's getting closer to the definition of sanctioned suicide.

I was profoundly moved by the decision, having read it about 4 times now. Particularly heart-warming was the insistence that assisted suicide should be available to all, for any reason (based on values of individual autonomy), and does not need a medical qualifier or "suffering" component to be utilized. Someone on reddit posting about it who is from Germany called it a "bombshell".

Extremely progressive, I hope this sets a precedent.

Just read the report, Germany in recent years has been a very progressive nation, unfortunately many European countries are dominated by the Catholic religion and as church and state are certainly not separated, its unlikely to be widespread through out Europe.
I know the UK would never be so progressive and not for religious reasons, simply because the UK is old world and very traditional.
