Any experience with Foxglove poisoning?
I have 3000 digitalis lanata seeds. Unfortunately I don't have time to grow them and use the leaves.
I can also buy digitalis purpurea in local greenhouses and while they're not as potent as lanata leaves, I'm hoping I can get enough to do the trick.
So here's what I'm looking at (please correct me if I'm wrong..)
The LD50 for Digitoxin is 286 µg/kg in humans
I weigh about 95kg so that would be 27170 ug which = 0.02717 grams.
Digitalis Purpurea leaves contain 0.2–0.4% digitoxin by dry weight.
Going by the low end, I'd need 15 grams of dried leaves to get 0.03 grams of digitoxin to hit the LD50.
obviously I'll want way more then the LD50, but not sure how much.
I'll also need to deal with the potential nausea but I shouldn't have a problem getting a hold of something to help with that.
Eating an ounce+ of dried leaves + seeds won't exactly be fun but I can run them through a coffee grinder to get it down easy enough.
I can also buy digitalis purpurea seeds in bulk too but I can't find any hard data on the digitoxin content.
ps: I'm new here and the faq said there's a search function but I can't seem to actually find it. So if anybody can point that out to me, that'd be great.
