I was going to state park this weekend, but decided to test out my co meter that I got. Now I'm wondering if I just connect a hose to it and plug it up to my windows, tape the windows shut with a whole and around exhaust, and hang my meter in there, wait till it gets high enough, and this save a lot of trouble than state park?

Google says, 40,000 is the fatal level. But your meter won't read past a thousand, probably, (there are more expensive meters that will). If it is "only" 1,000 then you'll just have a headache after an hour. But if it quickly goes to a thousand then it's a good chance it will keep going up. If you do proceed, make sure the vents are closed also. And maybe even tape over those, too.

Car exhaust is also going to contain all those other noxious gases and their effects that you're going to have to suffer breathing in while waiting on the CO to have it's effect on you. Depending on how high you get the CO, that might be a while. 1000 doesnt sound like much to me.
