Fire and a patient nearly escaped

Still in the hospital

Yesterday I was on an accompanied walk with a health care and a bunch of other mental health patients.

Someone set a thrash can on fire. We turned around and an 80 year old patient , who is the trouble maker in the unit, was gone. We eventually found her hiding in the bushes.

We joked and said that she probably started the fire to distract us.

I can't help myself, but "accompanied walk" really sounds like you are treated like an imprisoned criminal.

So far, everyone is very sweet. Food is not bad( better than my cooking), we are allowed our tech devices, there is lounge with tv , full of books and board games.and the staff is so attentive and caring, and they organize daily actives several times a day for 4 days a week.

So far , it much better than I expected and since I'm in Canada everything is covered by our health care.
If I still stay good, they will upgrade my accompanied walk to an unaccompanied walk.

You said Canada which explains a lot, but what are you being involuntarily hospitalized for? That's a LONG ass time. In the U.S., it's 3 days, and then the hospital has to go to through the courts to prove you need an extension of your stay.

Also that sounds way better than it is here lol. They didn't allow phones, took away hoodies with strings, made us sleep with roommates, checked up on us at night, and made us do scheduled activities.

Sorry, that your stay was rough. They also didn't allow my hoodie with strings and I have a roommate. If I took a private room, it would have cost me $200/day

How did you pass the time without your phone!They don't allow charging cords I our room and if we need to charge we have to leave the phones in the front t desk.

Luckily, I have my kindle and switch to entertain me.

We do have scheduled activities , but they ar voluntary. I still do them all just to pas the time and I'm excited for the therapy dog visit today.
