I have seen this in many movies where the characters die out of grief. I have heard anecdotes where people die either immediately out of an heart attack or within few weeks, have you seen such cases ? Does it really happen?

Kind of. Usually in the very elderly where they've lived most of their lives together and don't know how to function when the other goes.

Yes a person can die of grief or a broken heart. My grandpa passed away on a day of his choice shortly after my grandma did.

If a person has a heart attack then I would think that they were prone to have another one especially soon after one.

I worked in geriatrics for money for college and I have seen several cases of both of them. In my experience I'd have to say it does happen.

there is actually a type of heart issue commonly called "broken heart syndrome"
(to be fair, this doesn't always happen due to grief, nor is it always fatal, this happened to a relative of mine during a period of her life she was neither physically overexerting herself, nor sad, & she recovered)

if you are very old, injured, or physically weak, stress can aggravate your body, which likely causes some people to die of grief, don't go counting on it though, if emotions alone could kill us, i don't think the human race would have made it this far, imagine how sad & stressed our ancestors were
