There is a pool in my backyard not a kiddie, one dug into the ground and it is fairly big

If I jumped in and swam to the middle would I drown to death?

People consider drowning as very painful. But I read something interesting in an old scientific magazine article about drowning. Seems like if the person starts intentionally swallowing water right after going down the water surface, he will lose consciousness fast. Also there was something about the water temperature. You will feel extreme pain in warm water (pools, rivers etc), unlike in cold one (lakes, seas) where you will become unconscious soon enough. This might be wrong as this is just my suggestion based on the information from article. I never saw a single person here who tried drowning..

I wouldn't do that in a pool because the water is going to taste like dogturd. All that chlorine's going to HURT.
