The bottom line is that the internet has made a lot of absolutely evil things possible. Or things that people think are evil.
(There are things it has facilitated that I won't mention cos it will give you nightmares)

But it ain't going anywhere and it's certainly not going to be shut down.
It's another thing humanity will have to learn to cope with.

All I can think of is that stupid "Encouraging the young to die" video by that one ignoramus on YT. Although, his video is how I even found out about this place to begin with, yet lo and behold, I was already suicidal, so it's not like I was converted by some cult-like brainwashing like his video heavily implied. Guess I should be thanking him.

It's sad to watch someone around you die and generally people want to keep others alive. It's selfish and prolongs their suffering but is also deeply biological in that selfishness. It's generally beneficial to keep those you love most alive.

Some parents are horrible tho and basically tortuture their kids while keeping them alive.

My partner is aware im on here and we have talked about why im here in depth ... and i have explained that this place is not some cult plqnning a mass event and she completely understands and agrees tbat with out a place like .. there is no support or understanding people or place for people to talk discuss with others who can truly relate.. and we can be honest without fear... tbis place is a true haven for us... i underatand that there are ( unfortunately ) some bad apples within .. but it doesnt mean we are all bad apples .. just people hurting from the heart to to the head and many other places.. but this is more than what its being labeled as ..its one tbing i despise is stigma ... this a community.. that also provides the relevant and correct information without bias or intent.. access to true and accuret information is vital for all.. be it it here or else where in the world ...
The outside world doeant like this place because we dont conform to the norm of towing the line of the outside world we think freely without judgment and answer with honesty.. no sugar coating..

And the one thing they dont like is the fact we ..have a voice and most important we have a choice..

The first half is an analysis of one particular case where the 17 year old kid took SN and then changed his mind, but died anyway. It's quite reasonable the way it is done. It's not good that children are here, just not sure how to stop it. In the video they argue it is just a checkbox and that's it, everyone is allowed on. Which from memory is true?

The second half takes aim at the site. The core of the criticism is that confused teenagers like Vlad find it, and then instead of trying to recover, they slowly get pushed towards suicide instead, both in public forums and private chats. That he started out as this vulnerable teenager sharing his problems and then by the end became confident that suicide was right and he could do it, because of the echo chambers here, even beginning to help others do the same and giving detailed help with SN protocols. And then they say without the site, he wouldn't have been able to put together the poison kit that killed him, which is true.

I don't disagree with their point in relation to children. But I don't know how to fix it. And I don't think banning the whole site to fix that issue is the answer. I also question the notion that without the site, he wouldn't have committed suicide anyway, although the method would have been different.
