My Dad has said it. I think in part- due to my obvious anti- natilist sentiments. But then also- just being aware of the world as it is now. He just doesn't think it's a safe place to bring a child anymore. In terms of physical/ mental safety- with all the extra threats we face- cyber bullying etc. Also the financial insecurities ahead. Concerns over how AI will impact the job markets. General unrest in the world- politics, social change and unrest, climate change etc.
What annoys me is- surely some of that threat was predictable when I was born. There's inherent threat in being mortal for a start. In being a child. In being a woman. There's the obvious expectation to wage slave. I so wished my parents had worked out life was shit before they had children.
