I haven't wizened to charges of "pro-mortalism" from those in whom I had expressed my sincerest hopes for the complete obliteration of our culture, and the grief they felt whenever I wouldn't agree to perform their frenzied morality act, but it's fairly apparent to me that seeking nuclear warfare as a solution to your own malaise is just weak, man... It isn't the same as the "efilist nuke", and the self-masturbatory utilitarianism can't justify, or even reconcile, the amount of death and anguish and suffering which would be produced if nuclear warfare were to fall short of "total annihilation, 100% total and complete death of all populations."

is "pro-mortalism" the new word for Genocide?

No, I don't see a need to destroy the whole planet. Also, very sad the effects of this on generations to come if there are survivors. I visited Hiroshima briefly and was amazed at how beautiful and peaceful the city has grown after the war. Wouldn't wish a repeat of what happened anywhere.

I think in a more vulgarized sense it can refer to that, though the people I mentioned who referred to me as such probably picked up on my lack of confidence in the "sanctity of life", which I more or less scoffed at at the time, though I suppose a better term for it might be "anti-human."

As I've grown older I've relaxed my attitudes on the genocidal question somewhat, since the youthful violence required for that sort of dreamy utopianism always falls short of practical decisionmaking. I hold the same milquetoast feelings as many in this thread, but when it comes to the position of "mass suffering to reduce suffering overall", I'm slightly more disillusioned, antagonistic even, since it requires a "first-world" hubris which I don't really share.

Using nukes to reduce suffering is kind of like using a chainsaw to cut food on a plate, though.
Also, you do realize we are all human here, right? It's more like anti-people-that-don't-think-like-me.

From the perspective of pure utilitarianism (absent natural law) it makes sense, you just wipe out all populations, no one is there to suffer. The calculation works out. It's still incredibly stupid though. There isn't any position in which you can faithfully advocate for this in the real world, so all you're left with are confused ramblings about "suffering" treated abstractly, as if it were some calculable thing, among nihilists who only want to confirm their own radicalism in order to set them apart from the usual depressives.

Yeah. If it was literally the ONLY way to reduce suffering, then maybe, but otherwise, unless you wanna treat humans like numbers (No, reality is not an RPG game, we don't have stats) people usually say it as a way to shock others. And honestly, we are at SaSu, you ain't gonna shock nobody.

Still a solution.

Heck, just launch the damn things incessantly and indiscriminately. End of problem. No man, no problem.

Nobody that wants to live will do that. And those in power are the ones that want to live the most.

Yup. Whenever I watch satellite photos of cities all I think is: "Holy shit. The planet has skin cancer."

Cancer cells refuse to die. How ironic.
If scientists rebuilt the human dna removing our humanity, feelings, and other parts from it the world would be such a better place,we would stop decimating the planet for greed,we would stop killing all other species including each other, country's would be united and all humanity would work together as 1 to better mankind in a positive way forward,it would be such a peaceful world with 1 goal,to ensure earth & everything on it survived and grew to the best it could,if we was like this we would be century's ahead in technology,we probablys would be chartering deep space by now mapping distant galaxies and other worlds, but no,mankind prefers to just keep doing mindless wars, mass genocides and enslaving entire regions for profit,so until we get our humanity removed we are doomed as a species

I honestly think it's the animal instinct stuff that is doing all the violence, distrust and other nasty stuff. We have basal instincts that were fit for prehistory, and sadly evolution takes a LOOOOONG time, so we're stuck with a survival instinct that is more fit to a world where everything was trying to kill us than a world where...well, let's just say far less things are trying to kill us.

If we removed our humanity, all that's left is the animal, the violence, the basal needs, the shallow. If you want humanity working together all in one, what you need is a hive mind. (An actual one, mind you)
