If existence is inherently tied to suffering, then a "better place" would likely be one where suffering doesn't exist—whether that means eternal nothingness or some kind of reality beyond what we can comprehend. If there is no such place, then this universe might just be the least-worst option, which is a depressing thought.

Would you prefer total nonexistence over any kind of existence? Or do you think there could be a version of reality where things are actually good?

I never used to be a spiritual person, but after my partner's death I find myself thinking about (and praying for) some kind of existence after death where I can be with him. This is probably just my brain trying to comfort itself from major stress and trauma, but I still hope. If/when I do CTB, the first thing I want to do is to give him a big hug. That thought makes the concept of CTB a lot less scary for me.

Do I think there is one? No. Would I prefer a paradise over nonexistence? I guess.

I don't think nonexistence can be qualified in terms of good or bad. It doesn't exist. There isn't anyone there with opinions to be able to rate it. So, as a state- it's impossible to comment on unless we preceed it and are alive and imagine how peaceful it will be. Or, we exist after it. Which we may well do if you believe we didn't exist before birth.

In which case- you can answer your own question. What was your experience like pre- birth? Good or bad? More likely, it was nothing at all! No recollection, no memory, nothing to go on. You only feel like it would be better now because you exist and are capable to contemplate such things.

Maybe you would have been happier as a tree or a jelly fish or something. That's the other issue though- none of us know what it's like to be a tree or a jelly fish. We don't truly know whether they feel pain or frustration or happiness. We know creatures react to stress and injury but, beyond that, we have no idea what they feel about life. The experience of life on this planet may actually predominantly be experienced as pleasurable- for all we know. Hard to believe but, who knows?

As for, are there other world's more blissful than our own? Who can say? Maybe. Maybe some are a whole lot worse! It would depend on how life evolved there. Whether there are plentiful resources etc.

God will make new Earth when this one is destroyed. Now some will say religious fairytales...but there is something unexplanable - Shroud of Turin. Piece of linen cloth with imprinted image of a man. No one can replicate it or explain how it's made. They believe it could belong to Jesus and imprint is made when resurrection happened. Scientist been working for years on this. It gives me hope there is another world waiting for us.
