Definitely. Even as someone who cuts to fat. It's like I have "scar dysmorphia". Whenever I see any kind of self-harm marks, big or small, my brain short-circuits and convinces me that mine are nothing compared to anyone else and I need to go deeper and everyone is more valid than me. Going deeper won't solve your desire to be "valid". Getting clean and recovering will🤍. You are valid regardless of "how bad it is" because self-harm is self-harm. Don't fall for the trap and get stuck in a dangerous cycle that gets harder to break the deeper you go.

I feel the opposite actually. I take care of my wounds enough so the scars aren't that visible. But they are still there, and anyone who sees them would know that I self harmed. I've known people before that have self harmed and barely have a trace left on them and I'm envious of them. :p

sometimes. I'm jealous of people w/ visible scars. I'm around people a lot so I can never cut, just scratch since I don't want to explain any scars on my body.

I think I am more jealous of the fact that they're not embarrassed or ashamed when their scars are visible

None of you should feel ashamed of your scars, in my opinion. They are a component of your lived experiences. To be honest, the only embarrassing thing about them would be going out when they are visibly infected.

Definitely yes. It is a natural feeling to be jealous. Whether it be because of thinking they are "worse" than yours and therefore "better", because they look prettier, or any other reason it is normal and you are not alone.
