Seems insane to me. It's literally just cheap pentobarbital and anti nausea. I get the cremation cost, but the prices are insane as I can't afford it. I feel like a firearm is the only way to go.

does that include plane trips over there. I heard you need at least 2 plane trips one to meet with a doctor of theirs.

Aren't they much more exhausting bureaucracy than actual help?

Yeah, it's not cheap. I felt that way too until I started learning more about inert gas + exit bag. Initially I thought it might be too hard to figure out, until a friend reminded me that a 17 year old figured it out successfully (easily googleable).

That's what I said as well on another post. Way overpriced for what it really cost

There are a lot of administrative costs. They have doctors, psychiatrists, nurses and receptionists on staff. They have to pay all these people as well as costs for getting your body to the examiner and the crematory. (VAD) are considered unnatural deaths in Switzerland, and must undergo medical examination to make sure pentobarbital is the cause of death and rule out any foul play. They also probably need to keep a good lawyer on retainer. I'm surprised it doesn't cost more honestly.

Dignitas also requires much more detailed medical documentation as apposed to Pegasos who just needs one recent relevant medical document. Pegasos is much more focused on your personal autonomy/suffering, and streamlining the process. I don't know why Dignitas would be your first pick.

No, you have to pay for airfare and hotel accommodations yourself. You can expect the whole thing to cost about $14k+. You don't need two plane trips, just the one to get over there. Doctors will talk to you over the phone, video chat, and there at the clinic.

No, it's really not when you consider all the administrative costs.

Yes and they have to pay for a building to house records, pay Staff, legal expenses, . A building to do the suicide . Doctors etc and all u mentioned and more.Funerals here in the U.S. cost a huge amount thousands . Also have to pay cleaning and maintenance of building. They take care off all that and more . All the staff, administrators, doctors need salaries to pay their own living expenses .People think that everything is easy free and should appear magically to them.

With the massive inflation the last few decades $13000 is nothing. A new car here can cost $40,000 . A house can cost minimum $200,000. $13,000 will barely cover rent here for one year much more for other living expenses

Only when u actually have to do anything like suicide for example only then do u find out how the details are extremely difficult to get done

I have an old house and old car which cause even more constant problems, require constant work, expenses , cleaning, maintenance,

Anyone can say some sentence that is some abstract idea. Only when u start working on it, a lot , or researching and thinking things about how to do it do u see how extremely difficult the details are to execute and all the problems and obstacles

Ideas are easy execution is everything

Ideas are easy compared to getting it done executing it effectively. Deciding deteriming what the things that need to be done and in what order and getting yourself to work on, getting those done hours every day of hard systematic work, is a million times more difficult than saying or thinking " i want this done"

Just another reason for my suicide. Everything is very difficult and always has been in life and this entropic universe. Try to not wash yourself or clean ur house and it will get dirty because of the law of entropy. Everything requires constant work and energy to maintain. All systems and things go to disorder. All systems and things break down

50,000 years ago there was no Nembutal, no houses , no supermarkets or food delivery , no clothes , tools, electricity, phones nothing . U were hungry cold and dirty all the time. U had to walk all day to try to hunt an animal to kill to eat no uber eats

That's why i always ask what are the details of a soul and afterlife, the mechanism, the energy source? There are none and when u think about it a soul is impossible in an entropic universe where everything requires a constant energy source and everything goes to disorder

I think they and Pegasos are non profits too. Does seem amazing it costs that much but I guess all that money does get used up.

So true. Life is a struggle. For so many years I just mindlessly did these things. Now I can't do any of them.

I think @badatparties and @pthnrdnojvsc summed it up pretty well. There are a lot of costs with the whole process beyond just the drug (Nembutal or so) and doing the deed, especially legal and administrative costs, then logistics, and what not. Comparatively speaking, even $13K USD is much cheaper than the cost of maintaining (burdensome and unwanted) sentience itself.
