IMG 1277 I just watched the movie "flatlines" where a group of doctors kill themselves with a shock to the heart bc they wanted to know what the afterlife was like. It looked instant. Then the other doctors revive them after a couple minutes. I think you can order at home defibrillators.

Wouldn't recommend. As an emt-in-training, many defibs are automatic, and won't even go off if they detect a stable heart rhythm. Regardless, it probably wouldn't be very effective or pleasant

Are you sure defibrillating a beating heart kills you? Medical stuff in movies isnt very realistic. Maybe you will just electrocute yourself.

Will not work. They are programmed to shock when they detect a heard rhythm problems.
You can press the button all day. Unless it detects this problem, it does nothing.

The article says that both of the ppl who died this way were medical professionals so if anyone would know how to bypass these controls, it would be them.

Yes I'm sure, healthy, beating heart ppl have died this way. But over riding the controls seems to be an issue. The device won't shock you if your heart is beating normally.

it seems like perhaps the paddles were disconnected from the device and wired in a way they could be directly plugged into the wall.

Hopefully it was instantaneous, the skin burn looks horrific. You would think a doctor would have access to a more peaceful approach. I guess he was confident in it being instantaneous.
