WTF is it? I think too many details are missing. Exactly what is the "mechanism" or propellant that discharges the pellets at a high velocity?

this is the gun schinzo abe was killed with iirc, so it does work

I understand that, but how? The drawing is lacking too many details to understand how it works. The labeling is too general.
