I plan to ctb soon so this may not matter, but going back to one of my worst days when I attempted to ctb.

I attempted via helium tank with a bag over my head and a tube, I failed as I don't think the helium was pure but after sitting in my car for over an hour and my legs were so weak I couldn't drive home I rang an ambulance to get checked medically as I have issues due to sarcoidosis so wanted to ensure I wasn't going to get sick or worse in front of my partner that night and the attempt come to light.

Ambulance staff were so supportive and empathetic but when I got to the hospital I was in a waiting area with around 16 - 20 people.

The head nurse comes out and out of no where blurts out (well where did you get a helium tank anyway) in front of everyone.

I thought it was extremely inappropriate of her and I've been considering making a complaint ever since but keen to hear if I'm maybe over reacting?

She was also the one to sign me into involuntary care so I was send to psych and she made a comment that I obviously wanted help if I called the ambulance but in my eyes I just wanted to ensure I was physical ok before going home.

Appreciate any opinions if anyone has read this far

i am not sure if you have a right to privacy where you are, but if you do, then telling a waiting area that you nearly offed yourself with helium may violate that

the comment is just a comment. she may have just meant physical help or was required under policy to sign you into involuntary care

she also may have been on a second shift

this honestly doesn't seem very bad to me.

The attempt sounds like it failed because no research was put into it in any way. Not into the purity of the gas or the technique or other necessary materials, nothing, zero, zilch.

But that's behind you now.

It was insensitive of her and perhaps violated your legal right to privacy. Make a complaint if it's that important to you. However, like you said, in the grand scheme of things, it matters very little. The more you focus on it, the more you will feel the anger & aggravation that you felt on that day. What a way to waste your final days on earth! If I were you, I'd spend my last days thinking about better things than that.

It's worth giving feedback about. It would benefit more than just you if staff respected patients' privacy. I've had a professional scold me for my scars in the front lobby, fuck that.

Thanks for your comment, yeah maybe I am overthinking it.

Yeah I admit the attempt was , well not rushed, but not researched fully. I did look up online etc and found what I could, but I hadn't found this site then or the mega threads so I just thought , helium tank, tube, clamp to keep the flow open, plastic bag and tape around it would work. I did research a few helium tanks before deciding on one which I thought was pure but now I don't think so.

also maybe you're right, probably a lot more to do / think of with my last days. Thanks for responding

Yeah I didn't think it was appropriate, maybe it was just a long day for that person but for me, in my worst moment, I didn't need that comment , I then had an after feeling of everyone looking and talking about me in the room but that was probably just my overthinking as usual
