tbh i'm so angry that censorship has gone so far in this country that the site has had to block people in the UK from accessing the site. it feels like such an overstep. i genuinely feel like accessing means to CTB is a human right and people who feel as though their life is not worth living should have the choice to be able to end things.

this documentary was a bold error on part of C4. its almost embarrassing how they pretended to obscure details but actually directed people to the site. you google the name of anyone in the documentary and it leads you right back to SN. the whole thing is slapdash at best. i understand that families are hurt by the losses of their loved ones - hell, i've even lost people to means discussed on this site but honestly, i just feel as though i wouldn't want my method of death to be broadcast over public television, social media and mental health services. i also feel as though there should be more empathy for the reasoning behind a persons suicide, not just 'trying to stop it happeniny again' because they can't cope with losing that person. the world has become so selfish, why can't we be the selfish ones? why does it suddenly become a problem when people find a community where they feel safe and cared for, without forcing them to exist on this hell planet.

it makes me so angry to know that peaceful means are being restricted so heavily. i understand restrictions on public means to CTB - like jump barriers etc, because it can cause physical and psychological harm to members of the public. but at the end of the day, what people do in the comfort of their own homes is their prerogative. i don't want anyone to die. i want people to get the help they need to make their life feel like its worth living again. but when there is no help to be seen, people are trapped in an existence they don't want. and i wouldn't force an animal to live through unbearable pain so why should we have to live in this hellscape????

finally managed to get a reliable VPN to access this site and it feels like a weight has been lifted already. having a community of people to turn to who aren't just going to tell me to call a helpline is a godsend. because believe me, i've tried talking with a view to staying alive. and for me, it always makes things worse, not better. not saying this is the case for everyone, but it certainly is for me.

I'm not from the UK but I've actually tried to find hotlines I could text but I couldn't find any that have a policy against calling the cops so I just gave up. I don't want them trying to "save" me

Agreed. They just want us to "keep going" but they don't actually want to help us find a way to do that without bankrupting us

Hijacking this thread to share that janitorai.com (AI chatbot site, nothing particularly wrong with it) will also be blocked in UK soon. I doubt it's specifically targeted, but till interesting to see that something is going on.

not hijacking! its interesting to see that there are uncontroversial sites getting caught up in this shitstorm too. this alongside the proscription of palestine action paints a grim picture of the state of the country. to think i voted for fucking labour

It's probably going to elect Farage
Which won't be great for a lot of people

I guess it makes sense. The UK government's entire agenda is to create a regime that hurts people as much as possible, and this is a useful step towards that goal. But why?

you're so correct in this. why is the big question, that none of us have an answer to. the answer that comes to mind is 'control'?

It's scary the direction the uk is going.

The government has no moral standing. This site is a community for ppl who have SI. The uk goverment is actively helping to murder palestians who would actually like to live.

Meanwhile they destroy support for disabled people, trans people etc - pushing them to reach a point that they would to ctb aswell.

This place doesn't have predators, it has victims from the uk governments and its ilk.

literally!!!
bro you've said it so much better than i could. if i was all powerful, i'd say take me, let the palestinians live. i cant get my head around the fact they'll happily let children die trying to access aid, but i cant CTB without feds knocking at my door.

What's most ironic is that in the US, expressing suicidal thoughts can lead to authorities treating you like a potential threat to others. You might reach out to a crisis line for help—only to have the police show up and ask if you've thought about harming anyone else.

I want to end my own life. I would never harm another person.

I'm not from the UK or live in it (since I'm from the US), but seeing OSA paints a grim future for not just the UK, but other nations as well. Nowadays, it seems that countries that once touted their "freedom of expression" ideals are enforcing censorship while people clamor for it because it "protects kids". Time is a circle, and we're falling back into the Satanic Panic era again.

I wonder how many people came to ss after hearing all the media attention from the BBC and channel 4 openly advertising the group to people who would never have came across it in the first place.
Have they ever heard of the Streisand effect?

SS is the only place you can openly talk about things without the oh call a magic number and take a magic pill. Im not sure how id be coping without having access to other people in the same dark place as i am. Having a CTB method to me is a positive thing to help me fight and push forward knowing its always there for me. If i didnt have it i would have given up a long time ago feeling so alone.
