Discussion Carbon Monoxide TL;DR Method

CO or Carbon monoxide seems to be a hidden gem that no one here is talking. There's a successful post so it does work [3]...
Is there a reason no one brings this up?

So far my method is as follows:

• Regatta Malawi pop up tent [1]: £60
• Briquettes charcoal 10KG: £14
• Packing tape: £3
• Lighter: £4
• 2 steal buckets: £14
• Chimney starter: £10
• Shipping: £5

Total £110

1. Stay awake for 48 hours
2. Tape up the 3 vents on the specifically chosen tent
3. Start the chimney starter with how much charcoal fills the volume. Aiming for 2.5KG+ [2] maybe you might need two of these or just burn two lots
4. wait till coals are glowing/grey
5. Tip into steal bucket
6. wait 40 mins for coals to cool off.
7. place inside tent and give in to the sleep as the gas builds (or enter once the tent is filled?)

The second bucket is for water in case off a fire.
Sure there's some setup here but there's no complicated regulator connections not fitting, no pressure issues. you can order it all online unlike specialized pressurized tanks of N2. Unlike SN you can actually order all this as its all legal.

Is this method peaceful. Maybe i need to pair this up with some meds or not.
What do you think am i missing something? Coming from SN and Exit bag research this method seems sooo simple and easy?

I wanted to do that too but after some researching i found out that its not so painless sometimes and you'll basically die of an heart attack in the end and yeah, i backed out from that method idk

Just a little too risky for me. What if you get a heart attack before you go to sleep. Or maybe you wake up because of it. Id rather od or do the exit bag method

dont get me wrong id prefer the exit bag but im not able to get any tanks delivered to my house as i dont drive. so the CO method seems to be the only method im able to pull off.
would you really wake up from it as if your having heart issues youll be passed out from lack of oxygen anyway

Hasn't that always been the case with this method, though? I really don't think it's painless unless you take some pills and sleep through the whole thing. I tried a similar approach once with an old gas stove. I waited for the oxygen in the room to drop so the flame would do that incomplete burning thing and produce carbon monoxide. It wasn't peaceful by any means. I felt sleepy, sure, but my chest was hurting and my heart was beating so damn hard. I had a splitting headache, I was breathing heavy, and there was this awful tightness in my chest. I got super thirsty too, probably because the room got so warm. Idk, maybe I just did it wrong or something. There is many cases of big families dying peacefully in their sleep from a malfunctioning gas heater all the time in my country, so maybe it's supposed to work like that

For those families, it wasn't suicide. They didn't know CO was filling up their rooms because of a faulty heater. They were already asleep, and since you can't really tell it's there, they just never woke up. It happens a lot during the winter

It is, that's why most take meds before drinking Sn, as for exit bag I heard there was no discomfort

It wasn't a tent. It was a bathroom small enough that the air would run out fast. I brought in a stove and nothing else. I left it burning until the flame turned orange. That's the sign. It means the oxygen is nearly gone and the combustion has gone incomplete. That's when it starts producing carbon monoxide instead

The brain is more sensitive to oxygen deprivation than the heart, so you should pass out first. You only really have an issue if you have an underlying heart problem.

I have marfan syndrome. I have two mechanical heart valves, and a fused double scoliosis spine with restrictive lung disease. Do you think there's a good chance of respiratory and/or cardiac arrest happening to me before losing consciousness with this method?

Who knows, but if I remember correctly, you entertained the idea of going into the tent with your coal and letting it rise. In your case, I would definitely abandon that idea and go with getting the concentration as high as you can get it, and then go in. I think you stand a much better chance of skipping or reducing any heart-related suffering before passing out.

So whats the difference between sleeping with the coals and entering after its filled?
also the getting in with the coals thing i imagine youd want to use a lower amount of charcoal so you can sleep while it slowly builds up vs using too much coal and it all going too fast?

im not too sure on how much to use. I know someone passed with 2.5KG

The longer you spend time conscious in an environment where CO concentration is on the lower end, the more likely you experience a bad headache, dizziness, chest pain, nausea and tachycardia. It doesn't change lethality, but can bring comfort by shortening the time to getting unconscious.

im really in two minds what the best approach is trying to go slow and sleep like all the news reports or just going full wack at it.

also the getting in with the coals thing i imagine youd want to use a lower amount of charcoal so you can sleep while it slowly builds up vs using too much coal and it all going too fast?

Well, for a small environment like a tent, there's not a lot in it. The concentration will build up so fast. But if you have heart issues, then I would err on the side of caution and skip going in with the coal and let it build up first before entering.
