Yes that should be fine. I did a 12 hour fast for my SN attempt and felt it was too long, it exacerbated symptoms and caused headache, stomach ache. I'd advise on 8 hour fast and does not matter what you eat prior to it.I ate cookies with milk and drank milk after I'm starting my 8-12 hour fast is this fine
Right - that's another case - how used is someone to long periods between meals. It's not the 8 or 12 or 14 number, but that the SN can act.Yes that should be fine. Semantics doesn't help as often as science does. Someone might have had a very heavy meal that just digests slower. Or, their health level could be dropping making the 8-12 hour rule of thumb inapplicable. It's therefore best to think in terms of what SN requires. That is the lowest common denominator. RTFM: PPEH page.I mean... almost by definition... a fast begins after your last ingestion of food and ends whenever you eat something again. So, whenever you last eat, that's when your fast begins... after completing that last meal, of whatever it is.
IF you hadn't just eaten something, then your fast began earlier. I feel like this question kind of answers itself. Eat what you want to eat when you want to eat it... once you stop eating, your fast has begun... if you eat again after that, then your previous fast ends and you're starting a new one at that point.
if normally tolerate milk, a cup a few hours before will be fine.I'm doing it tomorrow for the whole day I won't be eating
Will milk make me nausea
Will eating two sausages now be fine it won't cause nausea I'm doing it tomorrow, won't be eating for the all day, I'm planning to put one sausage in a burger bun the other in one bread slice with mustardif normally tolerate milk, a cup a few hours before will be fine.
True. I was mainly responding to the question in the title "can I eat something before I do a 8-12 hour fast..." to which the answer is obviously, yes... that's the definition of how a fast starts.Semantics doesn't help as often as science does. Let's just try and be helpful to the OP, and keep this simple, shall we?True. I was mainly responding to the question in the title "can I eat something before I do a 8-12 hour fast..." to which the answer is obviously, yes... that's the definition of how a fast starts.
But, the question of what you eat before a fast intended to empty you for a particular thing... that's a different conversation depending on what your goal is. When I've had surgery, for example, the doctors always want 8-12 hours of no eating before surgery. They want your stomach to be empty. Clearly they aren't trying to have you be entirely empty through the color, because as you rightly point out there are some things that take more than a day to digest and could be in you for a couple of days.
When I had my colonoscopy I not only had to fast the entire day before but the evening before I had to take medicine designed to "prep" my colon by helping it empty itself so I was as clean as possible all the way through.
Different intentions, different eating and/or medicine to clean the system.
I don't know what SN "requirements" truly are... but I've never heard anyone imply they need a colon cleanse before taking SN... so I'm inclined to think that food being in the digestive track must not significantly inhibit the effectiveness of the SN. Which means the goal is just to not have anything in the stomach that interferes with that stage of digestion.
Hence the conclusion that you must be okay eating pretty much what you want as your last meal... then do your 8-12 hour fast... then you're good to go. Otherwise we'd have already seen people talking about going on liquid diets or whatever to help you cleanse your entire tract beforehand.
So, I gather, the OP should be okay with eating a normal meal or snack or whatever feels good... then the fast starts from there.
Which all boils down to my original answer that if he eats something and then fasts for 8-12 hours before starting his SN regimen... based on the procedures I've seen outlined that do not imply a need for a completely empty digestive tract... then OP should be fine.Let's just try and be helpful to the OP, and keep this simple, shall we?
It is necessary to realize that 8h, 12h, 14h etc. are all not hard and fast rules.
The point is a fairly empty stomach so SN can work. The hours may vary based on someone's constitution and circumstances the day of. This time, only that individual can figure out.
And the PPEH rightly uses the more ambiguous wording "several hours" than stipulate a certain number of hours.
It most certainly does not. The whole point is removing the specific numbers as 8-12 is not a hard and fast rule like saying, the speed limit is 65mph. And the PPEH correctly says "several" while issuing numbers for other things like how many grams of SN given body weight etc. The point of fasting is to let the SN work. And for individuals not the average case, they need to adapt the time. While 8-12 will work as a guideline for most people.Which all boils down to my original answer that if he eats something and then fasts for 8-12 hours before starting his SN regimen... based on the procedures I've seen outlined that do not imply a need for a completely empty digestive tract... then OP should be fine.
IF it matters, then the PPEH needs more details detailing how empty your digestive tract needs to be.
The OP asked if he can eat and then fast for 8-12 hours and be fine to proceed. I've seen nothing that counters the OP's plan. You haven't said anything that counters that plan. I don't understand what you are going on about. It most certainly does not. The whole point is removing the specific numbers as 8-12 is not a hard and fast rule like saying, the speed limit is 65mph. This site is intended to give help with something you cannot find help for elsewhere. I do not see how continuing to indulge your needless responses is helpful to the OP, me or anyone else reading this thread. This is the last I will say on this stuff here.
This is good to know! I have to drink electrolyte drinks with sodium, sugar and bicarbonate and minerals like potassium and magnesium throughout the day for my health condition. Good to know I can drink this while fasting. Do I just need to stop liquid intake 2 hours prior to ingesting sn?Sure you can. You can even drink some electrolytes drink if you feel too weak at the middle. Good luck. Wish you a successful journey.![]()

Thank you so now I do wonder if it's ok for me to drink my electrolyte drinks. I don't know if they would be considered clear. I use lmnt and trioral.See the PPEH page given here.

Right but but drinking little is betterThis is good to know! Its for my health condition but maybe I will try to get by without it since I'm still unsure if what I'm drinking is ok.Right but but drinking little is better
I know this isn't my thread but just wanted to chime in given I've had similar concerns. Thank you. I don't mean to be a pain and I understand the PPEH doesn't get that detailed for exceptional cases like mine. Technically, my electrolyte drinks would be clear liquids so shouldn't be problematic in the sense of being something food like that can be vomited but the other concern I had was whether or not the ingredients would in any way interfere. My guess is probably not since I would stop consuming fluids at least 2 hours prior and they wouldn't come into contact with sn. I am probably overthinking but I'm sure you can understand my concerns and need to get this right. Thank you so much for this information.Like I said earlier on this thread, the SN procedure laid out in the PPEH or Stan's guide on this site (which starts off from same source), are all based on the average case. These 8 hours 12 hours are all not speed-limit type clear rules. The whole point is your stomach should be empty. When you say electrolyte drinks, only you know what else are its ingredients and what effect it gives on your body for your condition at the present moment. But, we can say that if you have any condition that needs some thought, you are not in the average case and so should rethink the times and other details given in the PPEH or elsewhere. Normally, if your electrolyte supplements are thin enough and contain nothing else, you could go by the 2 hours before limit people use on this site though the PPEH as you see, does not stipulate even that. All it says is fast meaning no solid food (or filling drinks like smoothies, shakes and such) for several hours.
Electrolyte drinks can be like soups. There was episode in Seinfeld where Banya gets a bowl of soup at a restaurant and Seinfeld and Elaine think a soup is a meal under certain circumstances... :)I know this isn't my thread but just wanted to chime in given I've had similar concerns. Tri-oral and lmnt.If you can say what exactly is the composition of your electrolytic drinks are or state the brand names... it might help check.
Checked them. Looking loosely, seem fine.Tri-oral and lmnt.
