Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I'm thinking of maybe making some sort of a goodbye thread when I ctb so that I don't feel so anxious and nervous by communicating with you guys until I pass out (SN will be my method)
Since I can't talk to my family or friends about my ctb, I see this place as the only place where I can do that

But I'm afraid once I post that I'm about to ctb, someone might report it and maybe the police will track me down and rescue me..
Do you think there's any chance this could happen?

If it's risky, I guess I'll just have to do it completely on my own

they could monitor your internet connection and see that you contacted this site and correlate that to your post but that's highly unlikely and they would need to have a major reason to do that beforehand
as long as you don't post anything that identifies you, you should be fine as they can't really track you down.

I often look at this site while at work and at times worry about it with using my works WiFi… but I am too far gone
at this point to care -\_😕_/-

Thank you, I did not even think about this. Luckily, I mainly use my own data. How about hotel wi-fi? I mean after the fact, could they use that in the investigation to see which sites were visited?

I haven't heard of people being randomly stopped after posting a goodbye thread. Although, I vaguely recall someone being recognised on the site and being prevented that way.

I'd say it carries minimal risk if no one knows you here. But still, some risk. I'm more likely to create a scheduled goodbye to come out after, if/when I go. I've found 'goodbye's' obviously sad but, better for closure when other members have departed.

But, I really want to minimize risk if/when I go. It would be nice to feel some sort of company during an attempt via a goodbye thread. But then, what can any of us say that's any different to what we've seen hundreds of times? A variation of: 'I hope you find peace.' So, I wonder how comforting it could actually be.

Plus, I don't want the forum open if police start sniffing about.

It's sad really- that we have to take all this into consideration.

I agree.. but I guess it's just the feeling of comfort when I can have any sort of conversation with somebody when I'm feeling nervous and anxious

I've seen some who were reported to their local authorities and stopped, but they had posted photos in their thread with metadata still attached and that's what was used to find them.

Do you know effective ways to strip metadata out of photos and videos? Something reliable, just in case I happen to be willing to share some setup photos in the future.

Just this morning, even! However, they did express they were having some regrets. Hopefully, being "saved" is what they wanted.

You can find plenty of online tools to remove metadata by just looking up "exif clean" or something. Personally I would recommend just using Libre Camera (you can find it on F-Droid). No metadata by default.
