Buy a 12mm thick polyester rope. 10m length is good.
You can order the rope from amazon then nobody will be suspicious.

A double braided dockline is for sure suitable and there is a reason in itself if you don't live to far from water. You don't even have to buy it, you will "find" it in every harbour.

If you're worried about suspicion you could just buy it online. Hardware stores websites for example. Really nobody is going to say anything or ask why you're buying something in the store. As a person who's worked retail before I can tell you the only thing any of us working there cared about was going home. If by chance the cashier does it's just an attempt to be friendly with conversation and you can lie to them.
