According to the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), about 117 billion humans have ever lived on Earth since the emergence of Homo sapiens.

And who remembers all these people ? Nobody gives a shit. In the next 50-80 years, we'll be forgotten like these 117 billions.

My conclusion : we are not more important than insects. Meaning of life is a human concept. And the more I get older, the more I think life is meaningless and pointless.
