I don't know if I'm destroyed by psych drugs, but I think I'm probably affected by them. I've been taking Valium and Klonopin for many years. I don't know if my memory loss is due to taking those benzos, or if it's natural for me, being that I'm in my later 70s. It could be a combination.
Oh you're the first 70's I encounter here
No. I've been on plethora of psychiatric medications and don't really have any lasting side-effects, they just weren't that effective.
You're so lucky I wish
Neurotoxic antibiotics that cross the blood-brain barrier and destroyed pretty much everything else too. Bactrim and ciprofloxacin. I no longer want to end my life, sadly, the cardiac damage is never going to go away even though I made tremendous drives in every other area of damage. It took five solid years of something beyond hell, but I'm just glad I'm not going to have to kill myself anymore. There's nothing more evil on earth than pharmaceuticals. Nothing.
What cardiac damage did it give you ?

Got destroyed by ofloxacin as well

My psych meds destroyed my vision, now I have to wear glasses and my eyes don't adjust like before.

Not sure about being destroyed, but... There are certainly side effects I could do without. I am on aripriprazole and clozapine and they made me gain weight so now I'm around 200 lbs. I also sweat a lot more (though that might be due to the weight). Another problem is that I am basically non-functional until 11AM so if I don't have places to be I can easily sleep until 3PM. On the other hand, those meds helped with my psychosis and paranoia. In conclusion, some things are better while others are worse.

Medications have fucking ruined me. Have been off and on them for over 20 years….. have tried every combination imaginable. Nothing works anymore. I'm currently on 400mg (!!!!!!!) of seroquel and it has destroyed my quality of life. Gained over 65lbs in less than a year, I'm now technically pre diabetic and have high cholesterol. I will be 42 in December. Way too young for this bullshit. This is all because of the medications. Have chronic dry mouth and can barely swallow or talk at times. It has made me an emotionless zombie empty shell of a person. My brain is mush!!!!!! Not to mention the permanent tartive dyskinesia that is fucking embarrassing. Irreversible. Then more meds to treat the side effects. That Don't even help!!!!! I want to CTB due to these issues alone! All caused by these poisons!!!!!!!!! And my med lady doesn't care. Doesn't think that the medications are causing these issues. But hey I'm not manic!!!!!!!!!!' So I must stay on them. I'm on so many meds it's not even funny. I'm so fucking pissed about it. What the fuck happened to me!!!!!!!!!!
We have the same age (I'm just 1 year older than you) and yes, it's too young to live like a zombie. Yesterday I increased my treatment because of too much anxiety. I know how is goes : when you increase the dosage, the fucking brain wants more and more of this shit... That said, I wish you peace

I've never taken them because I research a lot and refuse to take them, but my best friend from high school was destroyed by monthly injections of Invega Sustenna. She can't watch a movie for more than 5 minutes and is not the same person at all anymore. I remember the first time I started to notice changes when she came over shortly after getting the shot and she was basically a vegetable. It's so heartbreaking.

Don't take antipsychotics. I've heard horror stories about almost all psych drug classes but antipsychotics are not for human consumption.

My previous psychiatrist prescribed me a lot of antipsychotics 3 years ago but I didn't take them when I read all the side effects. I'm really anxious about it. I only take benzos and now an anxiolytic. I try to take the less I can but I need to take something as I don't drink or smoke. Doctors should warn patients about side effects but they don't care. They just give it and if it goes wrong, they change the drugs. But I can understand doctors in some cases because they are not God, and human brain is so complicated...

I guarantee you're more sane than the ones who prescribed you the meds, they're the ones that should be in the psych ward.

No, I avoid psychiatrists like the plague.
Even before finding this forum I had already heard lot of stories about people's lives being ruined by psychiatry.

Antidepressants/ssri's have definitely destroyed me. I was a long term user (15+ years). I was never warned about the side effects they can have on the body and mind after long term use. I stopped taking mine earlier this year and I am fairly certain I suffer from antidepressant discontinuation syndrome.

Yes, she doesn't have a choice. It's court-ordered since she tried to commit suicide and her parents became her conservators.
for me it's not court ordered but I was given invega and deeply deeply regret it, I got two shots and worry it might be permanent

We've done a lot of research on the permanence of Invega Sustenna, and if you only got two shots then you are fine. Even for my friend it is not permanent, but for her the effects will last for 10+ years after she stops taking it whereas for you, the effects will only linger for ~1 year.
