Discussion Are the majority of you right-wing?

I thought this would be the last place to have people with right-leaning or even far-right views, but looking at the things users say, it seems that I was mistaken. I do hope that I have the wrong impression, though.

Let's say I favor individual liberty and the government staying out of my damn business and other countries' business. Some would call this right wing, libertarian or whatever. But I also see people call big authoritarian military states right-wing, which is the exact opposite of that. And big authoritarian socialist/communist utopias are left wing, which is also the opposite, yet somehow on the other side of the scale from the right-wing authoritarian military state. So the radical view of near-anarchy falls where, the middle?

Point being the left/right dynamic is stupid and a way to split people into teams against each other when your average joe on both "sides" probably agree on more than their representatives let on. (and I just lost a bunch of people for not swearing fealty to the team.)

Look at comments here, elsewhere, and then the results of your poll. People here say 90-95% are left, because left is good and why would anyone here be bad? If you look at posts and comments elsewhere, it is 90-95% - we'll say - in complete agreement on political issues. Yet, here, where anonymity is allowed, 25% say they lean right.

Just with a curious eye, gloss over political posts on here and how they are worded. Are they worded with actual curiosity and open-mindedness, or is this an echo chamber where our worst fears and hatred for "others" is reenforced while the "others" among us keep to themselves because they know they aren't welcome?

Having your views challenged and exposed to alternative takes is the only way to grow wiser on political issues, btw.

Among other things, these are the reasons why I can't take the current left/right divide seriously.
I think that many people who call themselves leftist/rightist can't define what it means to be leftist and rightist.
To me, it's just a conflict artificially inflated by our rulers at the moment.
In addition, you can discuss such funny things as, for example: the horseshoe theory.
The horseshoe theory says that the far right and the far left have more in common with each other than with their more moderate versions.
But of course we also have to define what the far left and the far right are, because currently I have the impression that people have different definitions and it is not standardized.

Personally, my views depend on the situation and context, so I can't clearly define myself on someone's side.
Sometimes the answer to the same question can be different after one month.

But MAID is not suicide, it's just a privilege for rich old people who also have comorbidities. Whereas proper suicide would be for anyone, at any age, for any reason. Yes, younger than 18, too (making children suffer is even worse than adults).

Right-wing parties offer strong support networks (see Germany, Italy), and otherwise, they offer a glorious war to die in, for great values.

Yes, I could be considered "right-wing", although that's a fairly meaningless category historically. I oppose Christianity, for example (and woke liberalism as its offshoot), so I lend my moral support to all non-Christians régimes in Asia, from Juche Korea to Yemen and Azerbaijan. I also consider the proliferation of guns in America to be laughable - especially when said Americans never use those guns for political violence (no, shooting up schools is not a proper use of weapons).

I hold many right wing beliefs, but not all of them. I hold some left wing beliefs, but not all. I think a big problem is that if you say you're right or left people will immediately believe you hold all of their beliefs. I can for example, be right-leaning, and yet still be pro-choice (my actual opinion on abortion is much, much worse than being pro-choice or pro-life). I could have voted for Trump, but not agree with all of his policies, such as his tariffs.

So as @derpyderpins said, we're going to have to go with a consensus on what they mean. I do want to know why you hope that people aren't right wing? I voted right wing because i tend to align more with them, but yet, I also do not hate people who skin color, nor do I hate transgenders since this tends to be what a lot of people bring up as right-wing beliefs. Does this suddenly mean that I'm not a right-winger anymore?

Basically all I'm trying to say is: don't lump people into groups and assume what they believe and that they're bad people. Because I can easily do the same thing to you.

"Right", under most people PoV. However, I don't believe there is a right, neither left. If I start to talk from the Marxism root, it will be a long and confuse essay (I'm doped by meds).

In short, I believe we are all divided in "up" and "down", because neither "left" or "right" leaders truly care about us. All I see is both sides taking advantage on people's trauma, beliefs and dreams; using them as baits that miserably work. They open people's wounds to cast a vote and I see left taking even more advantage of minorities, which makes me sad (no hate, I don't mean to harm anyone).

Thus, "right" does anything... in the opposite??? Like, if "left" says A, "right" will say "B" to be the opposition. I truly hate politics, that's quite a vent.

They who have power and influence use these, mostly, as personal tools - instead of truly changing and helping society. In my vision, the are over us, the "up". We, the people, shouldn't fight each other - we are all under their control, we are the "down". Arguing and splitting in more and more and more groups is all these little uppers want: chaos and distraction between us, so that we will be "too busy" to notice the real menace:

I have this trauma in my heart until today, that's why I avoid talking about politics - it triggers me. However, this forum is so calm and nice... and I feel safe.
