If so, do you think that contributed at all to your development of suicidal thoughts? I always felt like another piece of junk in the pile, not even important enough to keep safe. As an adult I can see the physical health issues I developed from that environment which just makes me angrier.

Not for all of my childhood, but when my parents split I went with my hoarder mother. Escaping from the junk meant locking myself in my room, which I had no problem doing—the more I stayed in there, the less likely it would be that I'd get yelled at or something. To this day I reel when I see clutter, but boxes especially. Our entire formal dining room was just fucking boxes and yet there still managed to be more boxes cluttering up other rooms. How the fuck do you even hoard that much?
