Anyone else ever go through the public data on suicides in their county? I find some interesting ones like of course we see gun shot wound most often but like this

Cause A Suffocation
Cause B Plastic bag over head
Cause Other Acute hydroxyzine intoxication

Then you see things like this and then this and think hm wonder if they knew each other

Acute amlodipine, baclofen, bupropion, doxepin, hydroxyzine, mirtazapine, propranolol, and sertraline toxicity

Complications of Acute Drug (Amlodipine) Toxicity

Then you see this and think HM WERE THEY SASU USERS

Acute nitrate/nitrite and propranolol toxicity

Idk interesting to see what people do that isn't a gun or hanging and not from SaSu.

Yes, I'm sort of a statistics nerd and looked at the detailed breakdown of methods, age range etc. Always surprises me how hanging is still this popular, I think it's above 40% of all cases in my country.

I'm surprised that where I live the majority are older like 40s and above.

I think there are more suicides than the official count. When the cause of death is listed as accidental overdose for instance, that seems suspicious.

Sadly I can't find a whole lot in the county I live in because my state likes to hide suicides like it's a virus.

yeahhh, I didn't search it up for my county, but I did for the city north of here, and they try to hide everything~ >_< almost like they want to stop people from knowing that others share those feelings~

I'll admit it was hard to dig up the site. TBF though the majority of what you see if it is anything like mine is hanging or gunshot wound or ODing on a bunch of like inaccessible drugs. It's rare to see anything new or worthwhile.

American here. I took a public health class in college where we looked over suicide data in detail for 20 minutes in a lecture. I was sitting in the back browsing SaSu the whole time which I found hilarious. I find it interesting to see the differences between what is officially reported in the US, what people from the US are saying here, and comparing that to the rest of the world (both reported officially and here).

I'd like to know more about the differences you know about! Does public data not report everything? I mean, obviously they wouldn't say how much of blank or what kind of blank in fear of copycats but yeah aside from that I don't really know the differences.

Death records in the US are considered public data and disease/death information ia freely available on government websites. It is more the types of methods attempted and number of attempts. As someone said above, these things are grossly underreported. I was actually surprised how many Americans here do not have guns as the statistics (and media) would make you think nearly everyone just shoots themselves. I was also really surprised at his many 35+ year olds there are here as again, the statistics give the impression they are a minority of suicidal people.

One other interesting thing is the umber of people here who ask about low-success methods (example: cutting). As it is such a low percentage of deaths, I assumed not many people would try it. This site made me realize it is not attempts but successes that are low.

My country only reports data on that for regions and the country in total, but they don't report data that is precise spatially (towns/counties etc.)

its underreported everywhere. Even studies say by 50%. I'd say the total is more like 5x official figures if not more.

All state killing is under reported. Look at the genocide or asuterity deathtolls.

Suicides/deaths of despair prove governments and health services are full of shit. So they will fix the figures.
