Dude… wtf. Why is everything that I'm seeing online saying that AI is going to cut into white collar jobs? Every statistic, everything is saying that, and I can't stand it. I used to have hope over my college journey, but it seems like I won't have a job for a while. Everything points to me being a broke bum for a long time.
Very slowly, my reasons for staying are being chipped away at. I don't want to work two jobs forever, I don't want to suffer. That was the whole point of my life work, to avoid poverty, and now I'm going to be poor. I'm a disappointment and I cannot wait for the grave.

AI, while it might reduce some jobs, will not end employment as much as people may think. An AI is not going to look after a toddler (and people pay others to look after family). Yes it might entertain them temporarily, but if the toddler gets hungry, etc.. they need someone to prepare food, and do physical duties.

AI legally can't replace counselling as of 2025, and AI can't physically provide first aid afaik. So there will be jobs humans will do, and not (just) the 2 oldest professions. (farming and something nsfw).

Also, life is MORE than just work. People have avoided upgrading phones, sometimes avoided meat and pre-prepared food, etc to save money, but idk what financial advice to provide, or whether starting a business should be considered.

There won't be any AI revolution that wasn't done already. The AI market is a bubble, OpenAI CEO said it himself: https://www.theverge.com/ai-artificial-intelligence/759965/sam-altman-openai-ai-bubble-interview

The whole AI job steal is a long way off: https://archive.is/zZylK

In the end, Gen AI is going to either be a novelty or useful only in specific cases and with human handholding, so either a toy or a tool, nothing we haven't seen before. Best case scenario, Gen AI becomes a tool for artists to automate boring tasks so that they can get into the creative meat of their trades. Worst case scenario, it becomes something that's "So 2020s" just like we see big hair as being "So 80s"

and even when that distant future arrives... I have seen SaSu discussions regarding paying for the 2nd oldest profession, read about therapists and how they are paid to do XYZ (but sometimes only do X), etc
Some people even pay for their house to be cleaned (I can mostly clean the room on my own, sometimes my room gets cleaned without prior notice tho... but at least my server PC isn't touched usually)

I'm writing this half asleep please bear with me,
i can kind of understand your situation, and i am sorry u feel this way however, because Ai is growing in popularity, most sites are using it to stay relevant, usually by scaremongering.

However, i think it will take quite a long time before AI is even considered regarding legislation for jobs. There are also an insane amount of unions across the world, and if the time comes, there will be community action and protest of AI replacing humans. (i'd like to imagine)

sorry for a strange reply but i hope you succeed with your career <3

Are you totally opposed to trades such as being an electrician?

They still make good money, and if you're worried about AI taking jobs, they aren't doing away with skilled trades any time soon.
