would this spot work for hanging

Maybe if you do it properly, but its much more secure when you are in air, with nothing that touches your body.

If you are short enough, more than likely. The psych ward I was locked up in had alarms above the door for this reason. If anything were to be hung on the door, i.e. a towel or shirt, the alarm would trip. But don't think for a second that that plastic hanger will do. Get something metal and sturdy.

It will work, I would close and lock the door to make sure that the hooks cannot slip away.

With the door fully closed, it will be very solid. Get as close tobthe top as possible and mafe sure everything is tight before doing it.
