And does Trump deserve the credit? He will get much applause by mainstream media.

I could imagine the rest of the hostages will be freed soon. Though I could also imagine that Israel bombs Hamas because of a dubious reason/excuse. But that's not the most likely scenario.
They will find a new enemy. Maybe Iran and then start a war with them. They escalate a new war with a new enemy and then the whole thing repeats. And Trump can negotiate again in his attempt to get the noble peace price.

Netanjahu needs that to keep his ass in office.

Should we be thankful to Trump? Before Trump came in office I argumented I am pretty certain Trump will be a nightmare in domestic politics. But theoretically his foreign policies could potentially have some positive impact. I didn't expected it and I considered it pretty unlikely. This is why it surprised me that Ukrainians weren't more shocked after the elections. But instead they had hope. I think this Trump's foreign policy is still overall horrible. And in some ways it is even worse than I predicted it. I am curious what will happen now.

i hope that the ceasefire is permanent. the war isn't between Israel and Hamas anymore, it's between Netanjahu's gov and the entirety of the Palestianian people. Israel has already broken the ceasefire. i hope the hostages will be free and i hope the Gazans and the Palestinian people will be free.
Personally, i do not thank Trump. I am thankful for the activists that have pressuring the world for so long, i am thankful for the BDS movement, i am thankful for the Italian unions, the various governments declaring that they recognize a Palestinian state, etc. without these, the Trump admin wouldn't feel a need to do anything. the US and Israel are close allies and wartime unfortunately benefits both of our economies. Trump cares about appearances, and a genocide live-streamed onto our phones is a bad look, especially when a bunch of people won't stop yelling about it.
