We are advancing into discovering more and more the function of our brain, how emotions and well-being are related to expression of certain chemical substances and receptors and how mental issues may cripple the production of them and literally change the structure of your brain, but still people refers to mental health like something "abstract", as if brain and thought weren't something inside your body but just some extra-dimensional/spiritual thing.

Scientists have basically discovered specific brain areas in which emotions and memories are stored, and how they are prouduced (it involves electric pulses and chemical substances). But still we don't talk about personalities, mood disorders or mental issues like something physical that stay in the brain but still like something that doesn't exist:
"doesn't matter the structure of your brain, you can change the way you think if you want! Just man up and stop having mental issues! If you really want something you will achieve it! Ecc."

Most people don't care much about anything.
Especially people with depression tend to dislike if not outright hate other people with depression and throw the stupid advice at them.

everyone has been miserable for so long they forget that you're supposed to be happy day to day, being around people, doing what you (once) enjoyed. They don't try to "improve" because it makes them feel better, they do it out of obligation

Because we are expected to be functioning members of society, like well-oiled machines

P.S. CF stands for chronic fatigue?

Not even well-oiled machines... just alive where we are most valuable, eating food and watching movies, keeping the economy rolling.
people being happy and 'well-oiled' is rare.

Also it stands for 'Complete Fucking Loser' though Chronic Fatigue fits just as well -_-

In the UK there is currently a massive push on mental health issues through media etc but as with everything its all well and good shining a light on awareness but if the services are not there to tackle the actual issues then it is an empty gesture.
