maybe im missing something but it sounds like a slow and painful way to go, why do so many people want to use this method?

I think it's because it's relatively easy to access and the most affordable way to achieve CTB without resorting to more complicated or unreliable methods.
PS. Is that your rabbit in your profile picture? It's beautiful!Because all you have to do is take it. It's easy.I don't think it's necessarily that we 'want' to use it. It's just it can start looking like the lesser of the evils. Depending on what else you can realistically get your hands on.
There are lots of things to consider when choosing a method though. What do we have access to? Are we willing to break the law? How comfortable are we involving other people? (If it's a public method.) What type of pain/ discomfort are we willing to go through- both if the method succeeds but also- if it fails.
I suppose what makes me more curious is- this question gets asked quite a bit and I do understand. It is slightly weird to come here and see so many posts about aquiring SN. But then- it always makes me wonder- what does the OP think will be more peaceful/ more reliable? The answer is usually pentobarbital but I get the impression- that's extremely hard to get hold of.
Other than that though- a lot of methods aren't exactly peaceful- that I'm aware of anyway. What do you think might be better OP? If I may ask? I think possibly inert gas but- that seems fairly complicated to acquire the correct equipment. Plus, I don't fancy storing a large gas tank. I have considered that for a while though. Other methods seem equally or more painful though- to me.

Yeah. Even if it hurts after, the ease of administration is huge. It's different from stepping off a chair and immediately experiencing strangling pain.
All excellent points and good questions.
Acquiring the right equipment may be less complicated than you think. My setup is just a tank, a small cart to keep it secured so it won't tip over, a three in one regulator/flowmeter/tube and of course the bag (which a few small things are required for). I was able to find everything (besides the tank) on Amazon.
Yup. Once you down it, it's done.

Mine got intercepted and FedEx wanted me to fill out a form to get it (involving a business and licenses I think, nothing I could fake). I just gave up on it. That was two months ago.

Its reliable. If you ingest enough SN, you will not survive. Likewise, ingesting it is not as likely to encounter survival instinct resistance. While not free of pain or discomfort, with some planning there is a good chance to mitigate this. While its gotten harder to source, its not yet insurmountable. Some people might like that there is a good chance of an off ramp if you have instant regret. That's a true of a few "project" methods like CM, exit bag, etc, but its going to be an advantage, say, jumping won't have. There is low risk to others. The logistics are pretty reasonable, especially compared to some of those other "project" methods. There are simplier methods, to be sure, and that will be a barrier to some, but for others its an achievable protocol. For those who need to hide their supplies, its quite discreet.
Is it a perfect method? No. I think we'd all want something simple, safe, and painless, but that just doesn't exist, so everyone makes the compromises they are comfortable with.I don't think I could physically do hanging or jumping. ODs sound risky and I don't know much about them or where to get drugs. No other options really in the UK. When I came here nembutal was still available (very expensive tho) but it being illegal really put me off. SN is just something that seemed doable, was super easy to get a hold of back when I joined (NOT the case now) not too painful although might be quite panic-inducing. And something you could back out of if you changed your mind mid-attempt (although still a risk you won't get help in time) and as far as we know, much less chance of brain damage if you survive compared to other methods. I guess those are the kind of reasons for most people.
ETA-also you're not leaving too gruesome a scene as with a lot of methods.
I must say, the recent posts from someone who ended up in a 3 week(?) coma has scared me quite a bit though. I also probably won't be able to get benzos so have to factor that in and decide if I can go through it without them.
I wish I did it when nembutal was still a thing here. It's now so difficult to do it in the UK without traumatising others e.g. jumping in front of a train.
Where do you live? And did it ship then intercepted midway? Or in the buying stage?
