Initially I had just planned to ctb in the comfort of my own home, but lately I've also been considering a hotel
Which do you think would be the least traumatic for my parents? Them finding my body at home or them finding out from the police if I do it in a hotel?

I will make sure that none of the person close to me finds my body, but it is a personal feeling, because I think it will be less traumatic than seeing a dead body of a love one. You know them better than us.

I'd say the latter.
Whenever I've spoken to loved ones who've found the body they always say that that's the last memory they have of their child.
Be gentle with yourself.

What I am doing is leaving a note that will tell them where I will be in the house, so they can just contact the authorities without having to see me in that state (and I said I would prefer if they didn't).

They'd probably go and find you anyway :aw:

I definitely think a hotel, that's what I'm doing.

I know it's going to devastate them, the least I can do is have someone else find the body.

If they really desire to be shocked and have that memory with them, then it is their choice. They have the information to avoid it if they wish. :notsure:

But I think they will have to see our bodies anyway because I think when police find a body they need the parents or close relative to confirm the identity ?

I think the hotel is the best choice. There shouldn't be a problem with confirming the identity if you put your ID near body. However, it's likely they will call your parents anyway. But on the other hand it will be less traumatizing to your parents if they know by police.

I think it would be best to do it outside or in a hotel to be sure that a family member isn't the one to find you. It also means that you are less likely to be interrupted.

If they really desire to be shocked and have that memory with them, then it is their choice. They have the information to avoid it if they wish. :notsure:

They will come to find you because they'll be hoping that they might get to you in time & be able to "save" you.
If they didn't do that, depending on which country you're in, they could face investigations or even charges for not doing so.

But I think they will have to see our bodies anyway because I think when police find a body they need the parents or close relative to confirm the identity ?

Yes, & while it is terrible to go & have to identify a "loved one" (relative/whatever) it is better to see them all cleaned up & laid out nicely rather than seeing their freshly dead body, which may be covered with/surrounded by piss, shit &/or blood and possibly having to do cpr etc.

It's a tricky one, depending on which method I use I was going to do it at home in bed, but maybe not. I quite like the idea of the great outdoors, surrounded by nature.

I agree with you.

Last time I tried to end my life I did it in a forest.

I like the thought of a warm night on the beach looking over the sea and listening to the sound of the waves, with a clear sky and full moon reflecting off the water.
Not realistic for October though.

I agree that they would go to find you anyway. It's not really their choice to see you dead; they'd probably rush because they'd hope there's still a chance to save you. It is parental instinct.

Another advantage to the hotel is that they have procedures in place for cleaning and getting the body to the appropriate authorities. Otherwise, your parents will also have to deal with that, which is just added stress to an already difficult situation.

OP, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to judge your decision-making process, but I'm a bit confused about the info you have provided. I thought in other threads you stated that you had no relationship with your family, and that you were couch surfing, and wanted no help from your family.

it doesn't really matter, does it? they could have a complicated situation, a lot of us do.

Because when they came highly distressed on the forum, saying they would become homeless and that they have been couch surfing, I asked whether going home would be an option for them, and they said absolutely not. Now apparently they are home, so maybe they can get some help rather than ctb.

Yes I was couch surfing for a while because things were pretty bad with my parents after I told them what I do for work(I'm a stripper) which they didn't approve of
But basically I'm back living with them now because I'm not able to take care of myself(I'm very unwell physically at the moment due to my anorexia so I don't really have a choice)
So basically yeah things were tough with my parents but they do love and care about me a lot
But that situation wasn't the reason for me wanting to ctb anyway

Hi @xLosthopex , sounds like you're dealing with a lot. Just want to wish you well and send a comforting hug. Glad that your parents love and care about you. Sounds like a painful situation.:heart::heart:

If i were you i would probably choose a hotel not only because your parents might not see your dead body but also because i would be afraid of my attempt getting interrupted at home.
