or poison in general, i mean if it was that common during the 1600s could it be possible to make now?

idk i went into a deep dive on a poison this lady in the 1600s made called aqua tofana (not the poison actual name but yk) and she gave it so wives could kill their abusive husbands and not get caught

all im saying is how hard would it be to make

Plant poisoning is unreliable because there's no way to know how much of the toxic ingredient is in any particular plant - weather and time of year all effect this. Botanical chemistry is immensely complex.

Aqua Tofana killed victims slowly, undetectably and miserably. People died of more things in the past because medicine was less advanced. Unfortunately non-pharmaceutical poisoning is overall not ideal.

Drain cleaner is not a way to die by poisoning. It is primarily corrosive which is very different.

It's unpredictable at best... and at worst could be a horrible experience even if it does kill you... and it might not, it might just hurt a lot.

There are a few posts here about yew and hemlock. Overall, it is a bad idea. Most poison plant deaths (most poison deaths in general) involve a lot of pain and discomfort for hours before death. They are not quick or pleasant. This gives you plenty of time to change your mind and call for help to end your physical suffering before you die, which means a failed attempt.

Also, many people do not realize that the amount of poison in plants varies by plant variety, region of the world, climate, time of year, and the plants own genetics. Two plants right next to each other might have wildly different amounts of the chemical in them. Unless you are a chemist and have a way of definitively testing the amount of poison in the plant you collect, you have no way of knowing how much you have. This method is therefore very, very unreliable.

Finally, you also have to remember people were in general poorer health in the 1600s than we are now. Back then, they died of the common cold or a regular fever. They had less access to clean water and non-rotting foods. Our average physical health has increased significantly in 400 years meaning it would take a lot more to kill the average person now than it would back then.
