What would you WANT to happen after your death. I'm not talking about what you think will actually happen. Just if you could CHOOSE your afterlife what would it look like?

Do you just want non-existence? It's over. Nothing more.

Would you like to go to a place like heaven? What would heaven look like to you?

Would you want to be reincarnated and as what? As a being on another planet? Reincarnated how many times? Just once? Three times as different things? forever?

Would you want to be able to change it after some time has passed? Like live a little bit in a heaven with your favorite foods and kittens then go into non-existence? Would you want to be a ghost for a bit and scare the shit out of people and then move on to something else?

Would you actually want to be punished in a type of hell? What would you want that to look like? Is it forever or just a little while?

Would you like to become a being of light or something and become one with the universe?

Or anything else. Anything you want even if you don't believe it'll happen. What would you choose as your afterlife if you could choose anything? It's not meant to be a discussion on what actually happens. It's just a fantasy question not what may or may not happen. I'm just interested.

For me, I'm indecisive... I'd want to be a ghost like entity for a little bit to see what happens here, then move on... I'm not sure yet what I'd want that to be though.

I hope it's just like traditional depictions of heaven where I get whatever I want for eternity until eventually I get sick of it and then I can peacefully fade into nonexistence.

Of course like with every afterlife thread I have to mention that this is basically just exactly how The Good Place depicts the afterlife after it's successfully reformed for the better.

Dude same, I would love for this to be what the afterlife is like. I'd want to just soak up all the knowledge in the universe and indulge in hobbies and then just peacefully return to the fabric of consciousness when I get tired of it.

Personally I hope my afterlife is just a long sequence of dreams that slowly fade into nothingness. I saw this interpretation of the afterlife somewhere and it's always stuck with me. I love dreaming because it always feels comfy and blissful in a way that's hard to describe. Idk I've always liked dreaming because it feels like someone else is living my life for me and I can finally relax. I'd eventually want it to stop bc I don't want to be left in some kind of junji ito type long dream forever.

I'd keep a pretty open mind as long as it's something that doesn't require me to carry over this pain.

If I had my choice? Anything that involves reuniting with my family after we're all gone... I might even keep the pain to be able to do that...

I believe any form of immortality is very scary considering time will never end. I enjoy closure as in my days so i'd prefer complete non-existence

What would you WANT to happen after your death.
I think, ideally, i would want to somehow be privy to everything happening after im gone, but at a whim. All the time im not, i can simply sorta lucid dream, but i dont properly ever wake up, so much as get a window into what has become of those who still live. Sorta like a window into it for me to see. I know the consequence, logically, and part of it would exactly be a little bit to punish myself (for what i did when i was alive) and mostly just cause i know im a really curious creature. Maybeee in some way have a very small impact back on it, but aside from like a very small ghosty moment here or there, i'd just want to know. What has become of the world as a whole, what came of (person), stuff like that. I know it's weird, because id not be a part of it, but i also know i'd never stop wondering if i had any amount of consciousness in this theoretical afterlife. I wouldnt want to be *staying* there but i'd visit, just to catch up on things knowing i have no possible actual effect on it. Eventually though, i know i would eventually probs go for some final little hell torture sesh, play out a final little fantasy, then fade into nothing.

Nothing, I only want to never suffer in this cruel, torturous existence ever again, I only wish to be permanently unconscious where I'm finally at true eternal peace where I cannot suffer anymore, I cannot feel any pain and all is gone for me. I'd never wish for the burden of existence, to be conscious under any circumstances is something deeply undesirable to me, I'd personally be relieved to never exist again, it's all I've ever wished for, in my case ceasing to exist would be the only relief in this existence that only ever caused me to suffer.

I wouldn't want to watch over my loved ones. That sounds like hell tbh. Seeing them live their lives. Watching them. Seeing them and everything that is happening but not being apart of it would hurt. I'd love to have another go round or maybe have the afterlife be a dream almost. Living happily ever after in a life you wish you'd had with the people you wish were there

I would appreciate an afterlife that has flexible choice with no judgment attached and one can switch back and forth at will.

Choices all with non suffering
- ghost being able to haunt objects and people, in a positive, negative or neutral manner
- non existence and non feeling anything, although not sure how one would choose to switch out of this one
- communicating and convening with other dead loved ones in a heaven of sorts
- be able to do things you loved doing on alive (art, media, books, swimming, hiking, eating, etc)
- be able to view any point in history or present for the curious soul

I would like to have all my memories wiped and be reincarnated as one of the girls in the anime Laid-Back Camp, and after that idk, more alternate world reincarnations I think. The idea of traversing dimensions is highly appealing to me.

I am trying my damnedest to convince myself this will happen to me, just in case what we think happens is what actually happens.

I've always liked the idea of a Heaven that you can take a break from. Maybe 'leaving' isn't the best solution (just because I'm ready for one vacation to be over doesn't mean I never want to vacation again), but getting my memory wiped or something so I can start over.

I feel like the ideal 'setting' for my afterlife would be a sort of nexus that connects to a bunch of different worlds. There'd be one that brings me back to my childhood in upstate New York, another that takes me to the 1990s (a time I never got to experience, but would have loved), one that goes to the Mass Effect universe (my favorite fictional setting) where I can live as Shepard, and so on. There might be some conflict, but of the 'everyone has good intentions, but different ideas' variety that you see in the best family films. Of course, all of this would be contingent on the afterlife also removing my anxiety and social awkwardness that have plagued me for years.

I'd like to be able to convince myself that this is really what happens. Even though I don't think it's true, it'd be a nice way to go out.

I really just want oblivion. Not to sound all pro-death and I'm aware this is a result of me being anhedonic for so long, but that's really the only true peace I can conceive of.

Some time ago I read a book "The plan of your soul" (I don't recommend it) in which it's said that we come to this life to experience or to live certain aspects that we must live to learn from them. Honestly after having lived, I would rather not go back to life.

The truth is that when my life ends, either because I have decided to end it or because my end comes, it does not matter much to me. That there is something, fine as long as it is not suffering. That there is nothing, fine too.

I used to say non-existence or nothingness. I m not religious or anything so I don't rely believe in such things. But ever since ctb has gotten more realistic I kind of hope for a second chance in a different shape or form. Without trauma, cptsd, severe physical pain, depression etc. I know this is just wishful thinking to console myself in the present. But I would want to be with my partner and friends with a healthy mind and body and live this exact same present life. Maybe what I mean is an alternate universe lol. Very unlikely but still.

Nothingness. Reincarnation sounded nice until I realized I could just be reincarnated into another shitty life. I want to be able to sleep for eternity. I've been exhausted for way too long.

I can't decide whether I'd want the same nothingness as before I was born or the wacky absurdist dreamlike-state I've only experienced in my short coma's.
Maybe a bit of both. A coma-like state that slowly transitions into void.

I would like to wander around as a ghost first, then I want to become a sexless anthropomorphic cat and live a quiet life in a pastoral magical world (like in the picture), and then I would like to learn magic that will allow me to teleport to any world and take any form, including invisibility. When I see enough and get tired of everything, I want to stop existing.
Anyway, I have big plans for the future)
I also have my own idea of heaven, I call it home, but it's a long story, it's difficult to formulate everything without a good knowledge of the language.
It could also be like the world in the picture. Perhaps there are friends waiting for me there, soul mates whose I don't remember in this life.
When I'm about to die, I try to concentrate on my dream, just in case it works.

This, combined with a movie theater so I can watch some of those films lost to time.

And chilling with loved ones, of course. Maybe a reincarnation option if it's a slow news day.

I wish that in afterlife I'd get placed in this private, instanced reality with "creative mode" turned on, basically. Just so I could mess around, be anything I want, do all the things I could never do in life, see what's out there far away from this cozy rock... then, eternal rest.
