what should i make sure to do or delete on my electronics before i ctb? my method is going to be away from my home but my body can still be found. i know that the police will investigate stuff like phones or laptops to see if it was a suicide or if foul play is going on so i have that part covered. i hope they don't see this website so I'll be clearing all my history, cookies, data etc. as for real life stuff what would you do with personal belongings like journals/diaries, comfort items etc.

I kind of plan on dying as I lived. I don't plan on deleting much of my digital presence except for here and whatever weird porn I might have saved, my family doesn't need to know about my kinks. But everything else, I will leave. Maybe it will give them a better picture of who I was and leave them fewer questions about who I really was and why I decided to do this.

For real life stuff, if I can gather the energy, I'm going to clean my room and maybe get rid of some impersonal stuff but I'll leave any personal or comfort items laying around. I don't see how it would hurt anything to do that. I don't have a physical journal but if you have anything in a diary or something that will cause guilt you don't wish to inflict, I would get rid of that or at least rip out the offending page.

Gadget-wise, if you're on android, just factory reset. Everything is unrecoverable, Android 10 and above. I don't know about iPhones though. If you're using external storage, you can't ever wipe that securely. SSDs still have traces of deleted documents and stuff. Best bet, take them to a shredder or bury them somewhere.

There is a program for PC called DBAN, forensics level deletion. Definitely look into that.

As for myself, I've deleted all my social media already.
EDIT: Don't leave a handwritten will.

I misunderstood the question first time around, sorry.

Other than what you plan and what others have suggested, not much else you can do. As for Internet activity, I suppose yhe authorities can get logs from your isp and see where you frequent online. But that's more effort than browsing your devices so I don't know how likely that's to happen. Other than the most sophisticated level of deletion from any disk/ssd, you can ensure they're useless by putting them in a microwave. Obviously an old microwave and away from anyone and have a fire extinguisher with you just in case. That or some heavy duty crusher/shredder.

It is a good idea to leave a handwritten will, I assumed OP didn't want death to be suspected as suicide/foul play, the will might make it seem premeditated.

I don't know what method gonna be used, does @paroxysm want it to seem accidental?

A handwritten will is good as it is recognized in some states, valid, but again the mental part might invalidate some of that.
