I know most of the time nothing does, but what made you feel a bit happy this week?
For me it's finding this place and Gas Monkey's set up that looks like fighter jet seat and feels like a TARDIS
Sheakespear's Hamlet and new actors I find playing him well
Almost nailing the song I like on guitar

This is such a difficult question. I've lost the ability to feel happy. I used to have a million hobbies, a million interests. Bit by bit, I've lost interest in all of them. Nothing excites me anymore. Sometimes when I am doom scrolling social media, I'll see a cool new musical instrument that I'd like to play, or some beautiful hike I'd like to go on, and there's a drop of joy in me but it dries up in two seconds. Mainly because I know I will never be able to afford to buy those instruments, and I will never be able to afford to travel to any of those places. But also because all I really want is to stop existing.

Haha, that's a bit hard. I'd call it more a "distraction" rather than happiness.

There's a game that was release back in January called Heartopia. The game is so innocent, chill and cute, that it's been giving me some sense of escapism and tranquility. It's similar to animal crossing! And I always wanted to play that game. It has been fun, yes.

How's the light pollution over where you live? I always wanted to go somewhere remote or for my city to blackout once so I can see for myself what a true night sky really looks like.

yeah tbh a proper starry sky is kinda rare but once in a while it does happen and when it does the wait is worth it also if the moon looks beautiful too i can just stare at it for hours
there is a ground nearby and it just makes me wanna lay down and just enjoy the night there lol
also sky at day time isnt too bad either if it has just the right amount of clouds tho if i had to pick a favourite it will probably be night

Real joy? Nothing or at least nothing like I remember feeling. Occasionally a song will trigger a glimmer of something but it's fleeting. Like someone else said the "highs" are more like brief distractions from the rest of it.

Everything is . . . So gray (when it's not black).

Oooo! Musical or plays? What's your fave list?
for watching, both, for actually acting in, i've only been in plays so far though i would love to be in a musical one day, but i'm still working on my dancing skills.

my favorites list, for musicals, i did just see a local production heathers and liked that a lot. my room mate and my best friend were both in the ensemble for it. also wicked, starlight express, cats, and death becomes her, though i have only seen the slime tutorials on those.

for straight plays, my favorites (either that i acted in or just have seen) are: shakespeare in love, goverment inspector, brother's grimm spectatulathon, rent, chicago, legoland and a midsummer night's dream plus a few very unknown ones that were written by local playwrights and aren't really known.

what are your favorites?

Chocolate, biscuits. Which then make me fat- which makes me miserable.

Wild animals bring me joy. Something as simple as a blackbird in the garden. Rainbows, beautiful scenary.

I can still find joy sometimes enjoying media- games, films, music, etc.

Have to think about this one. Getting high, escaping for a while. A forced daytrip to a beach to get out of the room. A sunrise or sunset. Having an ice cream. Not happy, no feeling, just something to do. A different shade of dark, or distractions as mentioned.

No, existing is torture and I'd never wish for this terrible, torturous and cruel existence that is just suffering all for the sake of it, no matter what I'll always see this existence as the most dreadful, terrible mistake that just causes all this cruelty, harm and suffering with no limit as to how much one can be tortured.

For me only non-existence is positive, only in non-existence will I be at peace from the evil of existing where every second existing beings are tortured in agony, to suffer in this existence is an abomination and this existence should just never had been imposed, it's just so terrible how humans cause all this harm and suffering by imposing this existence, I'll always find it so deeply undesirable to suffer in this existence and I always suffer so unbearably from being trapped in this horrific world where I'm so cruelly denied the option to never exist ever again.

Ok, I do not have a clue where you are from, but I'm from the deep south in the US and I have a question for you. Also, I like chocolate and biscuits, too. And I am fat, too, so ... But I have recently decided that I do not care any longer so ... 🤷🏻

Anyway, my grandma used to make homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy for breakfast when us grandkids would go to visit. That stuff was absolutely my most favorite meal back in the day. I would have eaten it at every meal if the grown-ups around me had let me.

I do not have many fond memories of my childhood but sitting at grandma's kitchen table, eating biscuits and chocolate gravy while she sang hymns (she was a VERY devout woman -- one of the good ones -- tried to help those down on their luck, took care of others who were going thru a hard time, didn't judge. She was everything good in this world ❤️), washed the dishes and worked on getting lunch ready for grandpa and the men who worked with him.

Even though grandpa was the one who owned the business (and therefore took all the financial risk) they NEVER said those men worked FOR grandpa, but instead said those men who worked WITH grandpa. As a child, I did not understand the distinction. Now that I am old lady, I understand just how important (and how revolutionary) that mindset was, both in that time and now.

Thank you so much for triggering that GOOD memory in my brain. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ And you should try it! 🫂)

Oh wow, biscuits and chocolate gravy sounds amazing. My Nana used to buy currant bread and chocolate spread. That reminded me of that. We used to bake ginger biscuits together. That's a fond memory too.

Your Grandparents sounded like really lovely people. I suspect that's what makes certain memories extra special- when they are mixed up with love.

I'm from the UK. I care less about being fat than I used to. I'm not out to impress anyone anymore. I need to feel healthier though. It's making everything that bit more difficult.

I'm glad you recalled those happier times. It's a lovely thread for that. Hopefully we all have one or two things that are still enjoyable in life.

Fixing things! if I can fix something that is broken and get it working again. I derrive a great sense of satisfaction from savibf some object from the bin.

Shame I can't fix myself but I guess some things have to carry on even if they are a bit broken ☺️

Honestly, nothing. Everything I experience is permeated by a background of unpleasantness that poisons the ground, so to speak. There are certain experiences which are pleasant, which I gain some degree of relief from, and which I crave (unfortunately), so it isn't like typical anhedonia, but again, that unpleasant feeling in the background never goes away. The closest thing to joy that I occasionally experience, although I wouldn't characterize it as such, is the sheer determination to put an end to all of my suffering (and not through suicide, through the gradual training that the Buddha taught).

I largely relate to this except for the last part.

For me it would be forgetting the sad truth of my situation. Anything that helps do that is as close as I can get.
