Discussion What is your favorite album and why?

I'm a huge music nerd. It's probably my biggest interest, and it has been the only thing to bring me comfort at times. I imagine I'm not the only one who feels like this here, so I wanted to ask.
My favorite for the past five years or so has been Xiu Xiu's "A Promise". What is yours?

Filosofem was my absolute favorite when I was a teenager. Still love that one.

As an album, The Turn of a Friendly Card by Alan Parsons Project is still the absolute favorite of mine. By that I mean: every single track is great, transitions are immaculate (last 5 tracks), and listening beginning to end is just pure bliss. I think I like individual tracks or parts of other albums more, but judging as a whole, this is the one.

twin fantasy literally rewrote my brain chemistry when i was a teenager so it's an easy #1 pick.
aside from that, i'm mostly a (psychedelic/prog) rock girl as you can see, but i've been unexpectedly getting super into rap/hip hop/soul stuff lately and am currently obsessed with kendrick lamar and childish gambino.

I also have categorization autism lolol. Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are the only thing I haven't checked out from here, and I should since they're my best friend's favorites. Very good list, asides from that :)

It's also so profound, poetic, intimate, introspective, raw, and so technically astounding. The way Nick plays his guitar on this album takes such divine skill and heart.

This album means the world to me. I want From the Morning to be played at my funeral.

It's so precious to me as well. It has brought me so much comfort.

Right now I'm going to say breaking benjamin discography. Lot of relevant music. Very good. The song dark is a awesome representation of ptsd. The way he uses his voice sounds like a siren, [ the siren to me is indictive of impending suicide,] along with the low notes on the guitar. But its also a scream. Just an example of why I like breaking benjamin. He gets it, and turns it onto music.

Because it's the one album tuat I always keep comimg back to. Honorable mentions are crytsal castles' debut album and selected ambient works 85-92 by aphex twin.
