I find it difficult to use emotional regulation skills in distressing situations and turn to self-harm when I embarrass myself and get called out for my actions. Sometimes it truly seems as if I just don't know how to behave. I do or say things that are dumb and then I isolate. I don't think I have the humility to suck it up, use a "healthy" coping skill instead of just cutting myself like I think I deserve.

If it helps- I think it's odd but sometimes listening to your saddest songs can put you out of the mood to cut. That or distract yourself with a youtube video? I know that what you're currently doing seems to be the best thing but for your safety in not getting caught and or in trouble with medical professionals- not saying I know your situation at all, but that I'm speaking from mine- keeping even one scar off can save you a lot of time in the long run. So even if its a hassle, think about the struggle you might face later for the easiest ways to calm down.
