Three members of the Dutch Cooperative Last Will tasted a drop of Sodium Azide. According to them, it tasted soapy.
The interview was in the Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant.
The first time Jos van Wijk ordered Sodium Azide, it seemed like a good idea to taste a little bit of it. It was the summer of 2017 and there were three of them. He ordered the stuff online, received a one-pound jar, and took 2 grams from it.
One of the members had a small laboratory in his shed where they did some tests. They placed the pure crystal on a stone and hit it with a hammer. A loud bang. With a pH meter, they checked the acidity.
After that, they dipped a glass rod into the glass and let a drop fall onto each of their tongues. They wanted to know if the stories were true, if the substance would burn your throat. It didn't. 'It tasted soapy,' he says.
Within five minutes, all three of them were terribly nauseous. And dizzy. They sat with a bucket between their legs. One of them had to vomit.
