I read this article and thought i would share.

This is what it’s like to be dead, according to a guy who died for two minutes

A person who died shared their experiences with death- here are some notable quotes I liked:

"I had no idea, it was just black emptiness. No thoughts, no consciousness, nothing.

"Both times I was just "not there". It was just all black. I would describe it as when you take a nap. A short nap with no dream, you wake up and it feels like you've been sleeping a long time, when in reality it's only been about 15 minutes."

"I definitely fear it less. I know now that death is nothing worse than sleeping. When you die, you just stop existing, nothing to worry about!"

"The second time I had no idea. I was in pain and all of a sudden there was nothing, just no life. Then I was awake and in pain again."

I'm not certain how much I believe NDEs or even people pronounced "dead" who were later revived have actually experienced death. I don't know how to explain it. But I think it's impossible to know until you are actually dead. There's such a wide variety of NDEs that I don't believe any of them are an accurate depiction of death.

I know what you mean. I don't tend to take NDE's as proof of an afterlife because as you point out- we're not actually dead at that point. Considering we can dream all sorts of things, it doesn't surprise me at all that the brain could concoct all sorts before death.

However, I do still take comfort in this report somehow. That maybe death really is like going under anaesthetic. Literally being awake and then, absolutely nothing at all. Again, it's not exactly proof but then- would we really lose consciousness all together, only to 'wake up' again after dying?
